Frozen Plateau is a Level in Tri Force Heroes.[1] It is the first Level of the Ice Cavern area.

Themes and Navigation[]

Frozen Plateau is a frozen tundra at the base of a snowy mountain. Its land is covered in icicles, which may conceal items such as Hearts or Rupees, as well as tiles of ice in certain Stages above deep chasms that will break under the Links' weight. Both of these can be melted with the Fire Gloves provided in the level. Portions of the Level are covered in slippery ice, which have poor traction. The Cozy Parka, once crafted, can be worn to make crossing this ice easier.

In Stage 1, the Links begin at a small forest of fir trees covered in snow. They traverse to a frozen portion of the area, covered thickly in ice and numerous icicles. The Links encounter several Mini Freezards here, which will bounce off the walls and icicles when struck. Some of the Mini Freezards are already in motion. A Chest beside one of the icicles contains a blue Rupee. To the north of the field of ice is a slope leading to a ledge with three Fire Gloves. To the left of these items is a torch that will spawn a Treasure Chest if lit. Icicles block the way leading up to the items, requiring that the Links form a Totem and throw each other up. Once the items are taken, the Triforce Gateway to the west will activate. It can be accessed by melting the icicles that surround it. A Chest near the gateway contains three Hearts.

In Stage 2, the Links begin at the side of a snowy cliff. A large Freezard blocks their path ahead, by blowing a constant stream of cold air. A wall prevents the Links from attacking it directly. Beside the wall is a floor of spikes with a torch in the center. Lighting this torch with the Fire Gloves from afar will move the wall, allowing the Links to melt the Freezard with their gloves and continue forward. Immediately afterward the Links encounter three Switches. A torch sits on a spiked floor that curves around a wall. These Switches must be simultaneously pressed to move a portion of the wall, allowing one of the Links to throw a fire ball which will bounce off the cliff wall and into the torch. This opens another wall to the next section of the stage, where the Links encounter three Freezards blocking their path. These enemies can be melted by throwing fire balls at the curved wall where there are floor spikes. The fire balls will bounce off the walls and hit them. Beyond them are Keese and Ice Keese as well as more Freezards sitting on ledges blowing cold air. The Links can melt them by forming a Totem to reach their height. A floating leaf is then taken up the highest ledge, where more Freezards prevent the Links' approach. These Freezards must also be melted. At the very end is the Triforce Gateway.

Stage 3 takes place above a huge chasm, featuring bridges of tiles of ice. The ice will crack and break under the Links' weight if they stand on them for too long, causing them to plummet down below. The Links must carefully cross these ice bridges, while being mindful of the Freezards encountered along the way who will try to impede on their progress. There are also a few Rupees scattered along the bridges. Eventually the Links make their way to a platform of ice tiles where a single Keeleon can be encountered. The Keeleon's thrown Bombs will threaten to shatter the ice, but it can be defeated if the Links form a Totem. The Links must carefully light two torches on the left and right sides of the icy platform, which will create a narrow bridge to the next Triforce Gateway.

In Stage 4, the Links slide down an icy slope into an arena of ice tiles over a pit, where the Links fight a group of Ice Wizzrobes. These enemies can be easily defeated with the Fire Gloves, however the Links must take care as the gloves' fire balls will also melt the ice flooring. Some of the Wizzrobes are floating at higher elevations, requiring that the Links form a Totem. After all enemies are defeated, the Triforce Gateway appears.
