"Divine Beast Vah Ruta"

"Frog Catching" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview[]

Link can obtain this Side Quest by talking to Tumbo after completing the "Divine Beast Vah Ruta" Main Quest. Once Tumbo learns that Link is a Hylian, he reasons that he must have come from far away.[2] Therefore, he asks Link if he saw his mother, Mei, who went missing at the beginning of Divine Beast Vah Ruta's rampage.[3] Despite this, Tumbo is still hopeful that she will return soon.[4]

Until Mei returns, Tumbo is catching Frogs to sell.[5] When Link asks, he explains that he has catching Hot-Footed Frogs.[6] Suddenly, Tumbo realizes that Link is pitying him.[7] He tells Link that he does not need his pity, instead telling him to donate five Hot-Footed Frogs.[8] This begins the Side Quest.

Hot-Footed Frogs can be found in the ponds and lakes surrounding Zora's Domain, and they are especially plentiful during the rain. Once Link has obtained five Hot-Footed Frogs, he must return to Tumbo, who is shocked to hear Link actually got them.[9] He counts a total of five Hot-Footed Frogs,[10] becoming excited once he confirms it.[11]

As a reward, Tumbo gives Link an Armoranth.[12] He explains that he picked it because he thought it was unusual, but since it does not suit him, he decided to give it to Link.[13] After this, the Side Quest will be completed.

Objectives[]

Stage Description
1 Tumbo in Zora's Domain wants you to donate five hot-footed frogs to his cause.

Apparently hot-footed frogs are pretty easy to find on rainy days.
Complete Tumbo gave you an armoranth in exchange for five hot-footed frogs. He seemed pretty pleased with the whole arrangement.
