The default form of the Great Swords are the Swords of Despair, which are gigantic, mismatched blades with sinister designs.

  +
The Swords of Darkness are purple in design and feature more spikes than the Swords of Despair. They can be obtained from getting an A-Rank on Adventure Mode's Adventure Map square F-15 after using an Ice Arrow to find them.
Appearance and Strategy
When Wolf Link and Midna first arrive in the nearly empty lake, smothered in Twilight, he witnesses a worried Fyer peering at a Twilit Bulblin Archer. He first believes to be a customer, before realizing it is a monster. When Link attempts to confront the Bulblin, it uses patch of Hawk Grass to summon the Twilit Carrier Kargarok, which it then mounts.

  +
The Swords of Demise are black and red swords with gold hilts and pommels, now bearing several red, horn-like spikes emerging from each blade. They can be obtained from getting an A-Rank on the Adventure Map square B-8, after using the Digging Mitts to find them.
Assaulting Link with fiery arrows from its new ride, Link can only defeat the Twilit Bulblin Archer by first taking care of the giant Shadow Kargarok. To attack, Link must wait until the bird gets close to the ground and then jump on it. Upon doing so, he can then proceed to rapidly bite at the bird. If he does not avoid or attack the Shadow Kargarok when it comes down, it will grab him with its talons and throw him down, causing one full Heart of damage. As the pattern is repeated the necessary times, the young hero must also take care to dodge the fire arrows from the Bulblin until next time the bird tries to attack him with a closer attack. When the Bulbin falls to the ground, Link battles it with physical attacks. If he does not defeat the archer fast enough, it will return to its mount.

  +
The Lv.★ form of the Great Swords are the 8-Bit Magical Key, which are based on the regular Keys and Magical Key from TLoZ. They are obtained by getting an A-Rank on Twilight Map square H-5, after using a Bomb to find them.
Once the rider is defeated, Midna will take control of the bird so that she and Link can fly to Zora's Domain. Link must make use of the Twilit Carrier Kargarok at any time that he wishes to travel upriver. Once the Twilight is removed from the land, the bird will not appear again, but a giant Kargarok, possibly its Light World form, appears in its place.
