Going through Category:Userboxes I've found some userboxes that don't exactly match what our "official" userboxes are. Meaning, they have bad color contrast and aren't "this user is a fan of". I personally feel they should be replaced with code, since they don't have large WhatLinksHere lists. Any opinions would be great as I can't go through this without a community discussion.

Sounds good to me since they aren't used much.

The following list is of userboxes which don't follow a standard format, aren't on Zeldapedia:Userboxes and just look bad:
  • Template:Change
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Change
  • Template:Crash Fan
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Crash Fan
  • Template:OcarinaPiano
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:OcarinaPiano
  • Template:User Carnivore
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:User Carnivore
  • Template:User Fan Wolf Link
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:User Fan Wolf Link
  • Template:User Master Sword
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:User Master Sword
  • Template:User Zeldawards
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:User Zeldawards
  • Template:User Vegetarian
    • Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:User Vegetarian

All of these userboxes are quite easy to replace with code, and should have been code in the first place.

I agree that these listed should be replaced with code. None of them seem to stand as legitimate userboxes at the present time so there is no reason to keep them as such. --EveryDayJoe45 (talk) 18:12, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Instead of creating a new forum on a subject which is basically the same thing: Some of the current userboxes have too much contrast and some have too little contrast. And some of the userboxes have the image space which almost blends in with the image. I was wondering if I could go through and fix these so that they could be less contrasting and/or not blending with the image.

Here's a problem. People's monitor settings are, for the most part, vastly different, so what looks good on your computer may not necessarily look good on others, and so the problem goes on and on. I guess one thing that could be done, is make sure that all userboxes have a color setting which is above a certain level of luminance and hue and whatnot, so that it'll most likely look legible on most all computers.

Hmm, the only thing I can really say about different monitors is that I could test it with my desktop compared to my laptop but I'm fairly certain that they're pretty much the same settings. I could do that as well as run them by a few people to see. Would colorschemedesigner.com be a good place to look? And I also don't know if different countries would have different default settings.
