Something I've been noticing is that, in race infoboxes, there seems to be a discrepancy over whether the Homeland input refers to the overarching world (such as with Goron), a general region (such as with Gerudo), or a specific location where the race congregates (such as with Zora).
With characters, where we have both a Homeland and a Hometown input, it seems to be generally accepted to use the world for Homeland and the location for a Hometown (region if there is no specific location and the character lives within a whole region, such as with Ledd). In keeping in line with this (and because it's kind of common sense), it seems as though Homeland should be the world for races as well. However, we may want to think about more specific categories, considering that most races populate one particular region or location.
Anyway, I'd like others' input on this. Suggestions/comments?
Yeah, homeland should probably refer to the overarching world while we could add something else ("hometown" sounds a bit awkward in this case, so I'm not really sure what to call it) for the general reach which the race inhabits (assuming there's a large number congregated in one place, which there usually is). Again, I'm really unsure what exactly to call this, though.
Y'know, I've kind of always hated those parameters. It's kind of a bit presumptuous to assume the place of one's residence is also their hometown. I think maybe, ideally, just one parameter for where they may be "found" in the game world would be better. But that is a hell of a lot of work right there...
Could a solution to this be just changing the infobox template to have something like "geographic area" (a more elegant name most likely exists) instead of homeland. While homeland doesn't necessarily work, what is listed for this field is a geographic area or region where the race is found. --Birdman5589 (talk) 04:03, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
I like AK's idea of changing it to "found" or "location found", but I'm open to other stuff. XykebYvolixZraliv 06:11, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
Using "location found" or even just found would work. The only problem with that is the field is meant to be for where the race is primarily found, yet using found could could imply anywhere they are found. I think it would be better if we could find something that would convey that it represents a primary location for the race. --Birdman5589 (talk) 16:25, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
I think we should call it exactly that... "Primary Location" and maybe even have an "Also Found" section too. --WikiGuardian3 17:26, June 4, 2017 (AEST)
