"The legendary hero was said to come here after battle so the fairies could ease his weariness. It was also said that whoever met with the Great Fairy who lived here was blessed with great fortune, so it came to be known as the Fountain of the Fortune Goddess."

The Fortune Goddess is a character from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. She is a Great Fairy living in the Forest of Fairies on Outset Island.

Interestingly, if Link speaks to Mesa at night inside of his home, he comments that he has seen a woman who looks like a fairy in the woods.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

The Fortune Goddess is stated to have been present during the time of the "legendary hero", presumably the events of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. During this era, the hero visited her frequently to ease his weariness. Many others also visited the Fortune Goddess and were blessed with good fortune afterward.

During the events of The Wind Waker, Link can meet with the Fortune Goddess after destroying a boulder blocking passage to her fountain. She will reward Link with an improved wallet.
