- "The Koroks made this shield specifically for Hylians. It's made from the finest hard wood of trees that grow only in Korok forest, so it's sturdier than it looks."

The Forest Dweller's Shield is an item in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It a wooden Shield made by Koroks for Hylians and has an base defense of 30, though this may be increased by certain weapon bonuses.
It is the strongest wooden shield in Breath of the Wild in both terms of base defense and durability, though like all wooden shields it will burn if exposed to fire or volcanic temperatures. However it doesn't attract electricity and Link can use it to collect Arrows fired by enemies by guarding.
One spawns with a Forest Dweller's Spear behind some of the Great Deku Tree's roots in Korok Forest which will occasionally respawn when Link returns to the area. Its sturdiness is thanks to the Koroks' expert knowledge of carpentry and their use of only the finest hard wood of trees that only grow in Korok Forest.
Related Side Quest
Another one is granting by Chio when Link accept one of the Korok Trials side quests at the Korok Forest in the Great Hyrule Forest region which Link must carry with him throughout the "The Test of Wood" trial and not let it burn or break along with the other Forest Dweller's equipment he must wield during it. After completing it, Link can keep the shield and equipment as well as replay the trial as a mini-game with the trial proprietor Damia supplying Link with a Forest Dweller's Shield and other equipment though charges Link a security deposit as the borrowed equipment must be returned at the end of the trial with the security deposit being used to cover the cost of replacing borrowed gear that breaks during the trial. However he will not charge Link if he brings his own Forest Dweller's Shield and/or other equipment and will allow Link to use Forest Dweller's equipment he brought with him though Link must be careful as his equipment's durability remains the same thus should ensure its strong enough that it won't break during the trial and will lose it if it breaks or burns though Link keeps any equipment he brings with him upon completing the trial. Link can also quit by trying to return to Korok Forest causing Damia to ask if he's "Cuccoing out" giving him the option to continue or quit though any borrowed gear will be returned. The borrowed gear is on display next to Damia though stops Link from picking them up though he can take their pictures with the Camera Rune to add them to the Hyrule Compendium.
