Flame Choke is the side special move of Ganondorf in all of his appearances since Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It replaces his original side special move, Gerudo Dragon, from Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Uses[]
Flame Choke involves Ganondorf charging forward, grabbing any opponents in the way, choking them with dark energy, and slamming them to the ground. Flame Choke always inflicts the same amount of knockback when used. If Ganondorf uses Flame Choke while in the air, he grabs the opponent, leaps up, and slams them to the ground; during this, the player can also slightly alter the move's path. If Ganondorf falls off of a ledge while using Flame Choke, he enters a helpless state, which also occurs in midair when the move ends.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl only, opponents cannot interfere with Ganondorf using Flame Choke.
Flame Choke has two variations in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U: Flame Wave and Flame Chain. With Flame Wave, Ganondorf grabs an opponent in the path and throws them into the air. With Flame Chain, Ganondorf deals multiple hits while charging into opponents in his path, but he cannot grab them while in this state.
