"You must have seen how many of those fissures have appeared throughout our kingdom. Sinister as they seem, they may lead your closer to Hyrule’s salvation. Search far and wide for all of them! You’re our kingdom’s last hope, Link…"

Fissures are objects from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. These magical portals, appearing as colorful crevices in certain surfaces, can be found throughout Hyrule and Lorule; when Link merges with a wall and ventures inside one, it will transport him to the corresponding location in the opposite world. The locations of each fissure will be recorded on Link's map after he first uses one.

When Link enters one, his painting form will go through a strange interdimensional zone where he will then flash the color of the next clothing upgrade (if he is wearing the Red Mail, he will flash green). The first time he goes through a Fissure, he will stay in the strange zone much longer and will do several flips.
