Final Smashes are recurring attacks in Super Smash Bros. series.

Overview[]

A Final Smash is an elaborate and powerful attack that can be used after grabbing an object called a Smash Ball, but can only be used once per Smash Ball. While performing a Final Smash, many characters gain auras around their body and the background darkens.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

Link and Toon Link share a Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Triforce Slash. Zelda and Sheik both use the Light Arrows. Ganondorf's Final Smash is Beast Ganon, in which he transforms into Ganon, resembling Ganon's appearance from Twilight Princess.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U[]

Link and Toon Link use the Triforce Slash once more in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Zelda and her alter ego, Sheik, use the Light Arrows. Ganondorf retains his Final Smash, Beast Ganon.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Link, Zelda, and Sheik receive new Final Smash that are better suited for them. In reference to Link being from Breath of the Wild, his new Final Smash is the Ancient Bow and Arrow where Link fires an Ancient Arrow at his opponents straightforwardly. Zelda's new Final Smash is the Triforce of Wisdom, in which she casts a sealing Magic that pulls nearby enemies into the Triangle grip dealing damage. If a fighter's percentage is 100 or higher, it is an automatic defeat. Ganondorf's Final Smash is Ganon, the Demon King, which is similar to the Beast Ganon Final Smash, except Ganondorf now transforms into Ganon from Ocarina of Time. Toon Link continues to use the Triforce Slash for his Final Smash, and Young Link was given his own variation of the move. Sheik received a different Final Smash called the Sheikah Dance, in which she rushes at an opponent, and upon catching one, a Sheikah symbol will flash on the target before a series of slashes occur.

Easy Final Smash[]

An Easy Final Smash, also known as a Pity Final Smash, randomly occurs when a fighter has been KO'd a numerous amount of times and has respawned on stage with the ability to perform a Final Smash. Usually, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a Fighter would have to be at least 5 points behind the Fighter in the lead. If a Smash Ball is on the battlefield already or if a Fighter already obtained one, an Easy Final Smash will not occur.

Final Smash Meter[]

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate adds a unique mechanic called the Final Smash Meter where fighters can charge a meter until it is full to unleash a weaker version of their Final Smash. The Meter can be charged by dealing and taking damage. With this rule, it is possible for more than one fighter to have their Final Smash abilities at the ready to be activated, however, each Final Smash must happen one at a time. When a Fighter claims a Smash Ball, it will instantly fill up the meter and reset after being used.
