Chinese in Template:Names

For your question, I will give some explanation.

Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are the official language of Taiwan (ROC) and China (PRC). Nintendo wants to adjust both markets ，so it offering the Traditional and Simplified version (despite being in the same cassette, as "2in1" ). In the Taiwan version 3DS, insert the cassette running Traditional Chinese version. And the Chinese version 3DS, insert the cassette running Simplified Chinese version.

In 1950s, Simplified Chinese is born . It is "some of very difficult characters" to be simplified, not all. In other words, some Chinese, Traditional Chinese & Simplified look the same, but some are different. But this is only the difference in "characters".

Since their separation in China and Taiwan, although Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are derived from Chinese, but as British English and American English, even though the same origin, but usage has been a lot different, not only shape, but also syntactically.

For example.

Zelda - Simplified "塞尔达" traditional "薩爾達" （Sai er da & Sa er da）

Ganondorf - Simplified "盖侬多夫" Traditional "加農多夫" （Gai nong duo fu & Jia nong duo fu）

Ocarina of Tme - Simplified "时光之笛" Traditional "時之笛" （Shi guang zhi di & Shi zhi di）

Fairy - Simplified "精灵" Traditional "妖精" （Jing ling & Yao jing）

Like these, very much.

But there are still some exceptions, such as ---

Link - Both "林克" （Lin ke）in two Chinese Ver, 'cause simplified and Traditional word is the same word.

Overall, Traditional and Simplified, translation and text difference is about 50%, translating the same but text differ about 20%, the rest is the same between the two translations.

Therefore recommended Zeldawiki, can specifically set up two kinds of Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese translation to prepare editing, and you want to take care of the players emotions, the national flag should set correctly.

(In fact, Ocarina of Time, had another Chinese Ver., namely iQue Player (A localization of N64). It would be difficult to say it clearly in a few words about it. In short, the N64 version of the Simplified Chinese version is also authorized Nintendo games, not pirated games, but it is co-produced by the Nintendo iQue to Nintendo's first step in Chinese in 2003 .The difference is, 3DS's Traditional and Simplified Chinese version, produced by Nintendo. In both versions(iQue ver. and 3DS ver.), the same simplified Chinese do, but there are also many differences between translations. As iQue Player version is older, and is co-issued, usually we player think that 3DS version 's translation is more formal. If you can open wiki project Simplified Chinese, it is for the same thing in iQue Player version and the 3DS version 's different translations, it will be added. )

↑This is a rather complicated, I do not know whether you can make it clear, if you think you do not understand it, it does not matter, because “that” version of the translation is now rarely used.

At last,Nintendo more and more need Korea, Taiwan and China ,and more and more games are released in these areas.These three language are new ,but important.Especially Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, difficult for Westerners to understand their differences and connections, often mistaken for the same version.

I have to do is to let the Western mainstream gaming market players also know that The Legend of Zelda (and Mario and other games) have a Chinese version, and specifically for China and Taiwan produced two versions. Chinese players are not all pirated players, there are also enthusiastic about the game of genuine gamers.

We refer Zeldawiki many years, very grateful to have this platform, but as more and more Chinese games is released , wiki actually the only other language translations, particularly the most recent period, more and more Korean entry, leaving China players feel the heavy responsibility can no longer sit beside. The only obstacle is that there are no set two Chinese wiki, and mistakenly confused with the flag of Taiwan, so development has been hindered.

Reiterates its recommendation to have two kinds of SC and TC translation options, and are set to Chinese national flag and the flag of Taiwan, in order to organize the two players translation service in the world Zelda players!

Hi there! I noticed your post on Justin's talk page and I thought I'd help. Chin Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. However, I do need to know something before I make changes. Do Traditional and Simplified Chinese have any characters in common? Would the Traditional and Simplified Chinese translations of names sometimes be the same? Or are they always different characters? (That may be a silly question. Please forgive my ignorance, I am a Westerner. :P)

You said Traditional and Simplified versions are offered as a 2 in 1. Is it technically possible to play the Traditional version in the PRC (or the Simplified version in the ROC)?
