Hyrule Field is a Stage in Hyrule Warriors. It contains "The Armies of Ruin" and "Battle of the Triforce", the first and sixteenth Scenarios in Legend Mode, respectively. In the Master Quest DLC pack, it also contains "The Invasion Begins", the second Scenario in Cia's Tale.

Scenarios[]

The Armies of Ruin[]

When the Dark Forces begin their siege upon Hyrule, the Hyrulean Forces intercept them in Hyrule Field. As a trainee, Link defies his orders to join the confrontation and quickly fells many of the lesser Dark Forces with ease, surprising Impa.[1] Afterwards, Link encounters a Fairy, who hides within the young hero's body and introduces herself as Proxi.[2] Proxi enthusiastically attempts to maintain a conversation with the young hero, only to conclude that though Link is a "man of few words," she will continue to talk regardless.[3]

Once the Abandoned Fort opens, Volga will appear within its walls and confront Link and the other Hyrulean Forces in battle. As Volga's health reaches the halfway point during the battle, he will stop the fight and attempt to destroy Impa and Link with a fire blast. Volga becomes shocked after learning that the two were protected by Link's Triforce and decides to flee from the fight.[4] Afterwards, the Hyrulean Forces are free to regain the rest of the territory in Hyrule Field as the north gate of the Abandoned Fort opens. Afterwards, the Goron Captain pleads for assistance as he is attacked by a Lizalfos and a legion of Bokoblins.[5] After the Goron Captain is rescued, the Mine Entrance will open as the Goron Captain thanks Link and recommends that the young hero takes the treasured Bombs within it.[6] After the Bombs are obtained, Bokoblins will seal the Mine Entrance with boulders, which must be destroyed using the newly-obtained explosives.[7] The Bombs are also necessary to destroy the boulders blocking West Field Keep, which leads to the area that Princess Zelda is defending.[8] When Link joins with Princess Zelda, she recognizes him as the promising trainee that she observed in the training yard prior to the assault on Hyrule by the Dark Forces.[9]

Princess Zelda commands her troops to capture the Central and East Field Keeps and to close their respective gates. The Hylian Captain will declare that his forces can capture the East Keep on their own and requests that someone else captures the Central Keep in his place.[10] When these Keeps are captured, their gates to the north will become sealed off preventing travel in both directions. Before they are closed, the Hyrulean Forces may make their way northward and capture the enemy territories to the north, including the Enemy Base, where the Dark Wizard is situated. If he is defeated, he will retreat, saying that he has other matters to take care of.

After the Central and Eastern Keeps have been captured, Princess Zelda will travel to the Fairy Fountain to call upon the Great Fairy for help.[11] However, the entrance to the Fairy Fountain is blocked by a cracked wall, which must also be destroyed with the Bombs.[12] During this time, the Dark Forces may break through the barriers from the northwest and east, requiring the Hyrulean Forces to divert their attention to stop them. Once the wall is destroyed, Link and Zelda may pray to the Great Fairy together by using the newly-charged Magic Circle, dealing a devastating blow to the Dark Forces and summoning the Great Fairy who enhances the Hyrulean Forces' Bombs and detonates them across the battlefield to greatly weaken the Dark Forces. Afterwards, the Hyrulean Forces receive a Morale boost and Princess Zelda leaves the battlefield.

In response to this, the Dark Wizard will summon King Dodongo in the North Square.[13][14] King Dodongo will begin his rampage south towards Hyrule Castle and so must be defeated quickly. After King Dodongo is defeated, a Hylian Soldier will inform Impa that the Dark Wizard has taken Hyrule Castle and merely used King Dodongo as a distraction.[15] With Hyrule Castle under the control of the Dark Wizard, Princess Zelda disappears, prompting Impa to employ Link's help in locating her,[16] granting the young hero the legendary green Tunic as a symbol of his worthiness.

After the Scenario finishes, Impa becomes a playable character and her weapon, the Giant's Knife, becomes available for use.

Battle of the Triforce[]

Once Ganondorf seizes the Triforce of Power from Lana during "March of the Demon King", his forces travel to Hyrule Field where Link and Princess Zelda are located to claim their pieces and complete the full Triforce.[17][18] Meanwhile, Princess Zelda launches a counterattack, ordering her troops to take the base of Ganondorf's Forces.[19] After the battle begins, Zant advances towards the Rockface Checkpoint in the northwest section of the battlefield.[20] In order to proceed to Hyrule Castle, Ganondorf and his forces must support Zant's attack on the Checkpoint's gate. To intercept Zant, Princess Zelda commands a Hylian Captain to subdue him and protect the gate.[21][22] Once the Hylian Captain is defeated, the Rockface Checkpoint will open, allowing Ganondorf's forces to head directly towards Hyrule Castle.

During this time, Link begins to advance towards the Allied Base, attempting to capture the Central Keep along his way. If Link is not interrupted, the young hero will use the power from his Triforce of Courage to dwindle the Keeps' health with a rain of light while he battles the forces within it. Once Link is defeated, Princess Zelda will command him to withdraw, allowing Ganondorf's Forces to continue their attack.[23][24]

After the Rockface Checkpoint is opened, Impa will advance east to the Fairy Fountain from the Hyrule Castle Checkpoint.[25] In response, Ghirahim challenges her to battle,[26] buying time for the rest of Ganondorf's Forces. However, after a brief period of time, Impa decides to abandon her fight with Ghirahim to reach the Fairy Fountain.[27] If Impa reaches the Fairy Fountain, she will begin charging it, forcing Ganondorf's Forces to stop her within two minutes or risk failure.[28]

Following Impa's defeat, Link will reappear in the field north of the Castle Keep and advance east towards the Central Keep in order to capture the Allied Base.[29] Princess Zelda will join the young hero, opening the gates to the Castle Keep and advancing towards the East Field Keep before heading for the Allied Base.[30][31] Both Warriors will use their pieces of the Triforce to conquer their respective Keeps, prompting Ganondorf's Forces to defeat them immediately. Zant offers to handle Link while Ghirahim attacks Zelda.[32][33] However, they are unable to defeat the Triforce bearers on their own and require Ganondorf's assistance. In order to conclusively conquer Hyrule Field, Ganondorf must defeat both Link and Zelda within a small window of time of each other's defeat, as they will simply rest and return to resisting Ganondorf's Forces after a period of time has passed.[34][35][36]

After the Hyrulean Forces have been defeated, Ganondorf will assume control over all three pieces of the Triforce before disappearing.[37][38]

The Invasion Begins[]

Set before "The Armies of Ruin,"[39] Wizzro advises that the Dark Forces capture the kingdom's fairies to gain an advantage.[40] When some of the fairies escaped their capture, Cia had Wizzro and Volga dispatched to Hyrule Field.[41] Unbeknownst to Cia and her Forces, Lana was working with the Gorons to protect the fairies and had arrived at the field.[42][43]

During their battle with the Gorons, Volga commands that either the W. Rockface Keep or the East Field Keep be captured to open the enemy gates. Lana sends several Goron Captains to make their way to Hyrule Castle (Castle Keep and/or Abandoned Fort) to ask for reinforcements. Cia commands that they be stopped before they reach the castle. Depending on the actions of Volga or Wizzro, the Goron Captains are either all defeated or successfully reach their destination, thus calling for more aid. While this is going on, Lana advances to the north to stage an attack on the Dark Forces, which opens the other gate. Lana is defeated, however, and retreats from the battlefield, but swears she will defeat Cia.

Princess Zelda then appears on the field, who although confused by the sudden invasion, readies her troops for combat. Cia immediately switches her attention onto her and commands her Forces to ignore the fairies and to kill the princess. Zelda's call to arms results in several Keeps controlled by the Hyrulean Forces opening as her troops advance towards the Dark Forces' Base. Cia plans a counterattack and has her troops advance, as well. As several Hylian Captains are defeated, Impa appears on the battlefield to intercept the Dark Forces. Cia sees an opportunity in this and states that if Impa is defeated, Zelda will have to come out. Impa falls and temporarily retreats, which demoralizes the Hyrulean Forces and halts their advance. Their retreat leaves Cia with an air of confidence as she falls back to let Volga and Wizzro carry the rest of the battle.

With Impa defeated, the Castle Keep's gate partially opens as Zelda advances. Her encouragement boosts the Hyrulean Forces' morale. Volga leaves to battle the princess himself and fights in front of the castle. If Zelda is not defeated in a sufficient amount of time, then Impa reappears onto the battlefield, having recovered from her wounds.

Ultimately, Zelda is defeated, and she withdraws her troops from the battlefield, promising to regroup and return later.[44] The Hyrulean Forces rally themselves to ready for the next battle. Though their retreat bothers Wizzro, he swears that they will return as the Dark Forces leave in victory.
