Some believe that Fierce Deity is Majora's nemesis and that Majora gives Link the mask in order to defeat the hero as well as the spirit inhabiting the mask at the same time. This theory assumes that the Lunar Child wearing Majora's Mask was influenced or a personification of Majora itself.

Some believe that the Fierce Deity was a nemesis of Majora's, possibly the hero who sealed Majora into the mask long ago, as is implied in the ''Majora's Mask'' [[The Legend of Zelda series manga|manga]].<ref> http://www.zelda-infinite.com/files/manga/majora/10/19.jpg </ref> If this is the case, then Majora likely gives Link the mask in order to defeat both Link and the spirit inhabiting the mask at the same time. This theory assumes that the Lunar Child wearing Majora's Mask is influenced by or a personification of Majora.

Other theories state that the mask was given either through naivety or insanity, or that the Lunar Child was not Majora.

It is also possible that the Lunar Child wearing Majora's Mask gave Link the Fierce Deity's Mask so Link could defeat the evil inside Majora's Mask.

Another theory is that the Lunar Child was given the Fierce Deity's Mask by a stronger deity than Majora, and Majora could have given the mask to Link in an attempt to destroy them both. It is also possible that the Fierce Deity's Mask could have been darker than Majora when Majora says "the true bad guy".

Another possibility is that the boy wearing Majora's Mask is Skull Kid's inner self, how he's sad that the four giants were playing without him, which is what he thought happened. And the reason he gave Link the Deity Mask is because deep inside, Skull Kid doesn't want the Moon to crash and wanted Link to be able to defeat his inner evil.

A possible theory is that the spirit that is stored in the Fierce Deity Mask is the soul of an ancient warrior that sealed an evil monster (Majora) in its respective mask. This can be noted in the official manga of Majora's mask.

Other theories include that the mask was given either through naivety or insanity, or that the Lunar Child is not Majora, but a manifestation of Skull Kid's gentle inner self, who gives Link the Fierce Deity's Mask so that Link can defeat Majora and save Termina.

"Could this mask's dark powers be as bad as Majora?"
— In-game description

The Fierce Deity's Mask (鬼神の仮面 Kijin no Kamen?, Japanese: Demon God's Mask) is the final transformation mask that Link can obtain in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The mask allows Link to transform into the avatar of a mighty god, Fierce Deity, with the capability to shoot Sword Beams. Because of this, it can only be worn during boss battles, unless glitches are used. Nobuyuki Hiyama, the voice actor of adult Link in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, also voices Fierce Deity Link. The model for Link as Fierce Deity is exactly the same one used for Link as an adult in Ocarina of Time, only with a different design and a different sword. However, the Fierce Deity model is much taller than Adult Link, possibly eight feet (2.4 m) tall, only slightly shorter than Odolwa.

Acquisition

Link can obtain the Fierce Deity's Mask by trading the twenty non-transformation masks to the four Lunar Children wearing the Boss Remains at the Moon. Ironically, Link obtains the mask from the child wearing Majora's Mask just prior to the final battle with Majora. The child gives him the Fierce Deity's Mask so that the two of them can play "good guys against bad guys" together. Fierce Deity's Mask is not required to defeat Majora, but it makes the battle much easier. The difficulty of any of the bosses fought will be greatly reduced if using the Fierce Deity's Mask, aside from Twinmold, who is very difficult to hit with the mask on.

Theory

Theory warning: This section contains theoretical information based on the research of one or several other users. It has not been officially verified by Nintendo and its factual accuracy is disputed.

Some believe that the Fierce Deity was a nemesis of Majora's, possibly the hero who sealed Majora into the mask long ago, as is implied in the Majora's Mask manga.[1] If this is the case, then Majora likely gives Link the mask in order to defeat both Link and the spirit inhabiting the mask at the same time. This theory assumes that the Lunar Child wearing Majora's Mask is influenced by or a personification of Majora.

Other theories include that the mask was given either through naivety or insanity, or that the Lunar Child is not Majora, but a manifestation of Skull Kid's gentle inner self, who gives Link the Fierce Deity's Mask so that Link can defeat Majora and save Termina.
