Faron Woods is a Stage in Hyrule Warriors.[name reference needed] It contains "The Sorceress of the Woods" as well as "The Girl in the Green Tunic", the third Scenario in Legend Mode and the first Scenario of Linkle's Tale, respectively.

Scenarios[]

The Sorceress of the Woods[]

After exiting the Eldin Caves, Link and Impa, joined by their new ally Sheik, emerge into the Faron Woods and find a hidden village being overrun by Dark Forces led by Wizzro. Although they wanted to continue their search for Princess Zelda, they quickly jump into the villagers' aid.[1]

When the Hyrulean Forces arrive to the Village, they find a young girl leading a group of Hyrulean soldiers against an attack by the Dark Forces. She introduces herself as Lana, a sorceress from the same clan as Cia. Intrigued, Impa asks her of Cia’s plans against Hyrule, and Lana offers to tell them after they help her defend the forest.[2]

Wizzro tries to thwart the advancement of the Hyrulean Forces by summoning Deku Babas to the battlefield, but Link easily dispatches them from afar using the Bow obtained from deep within the forest.[3][4] With the Hyrulean Forces growing tired from the battle, Lana suggests that they retreat to the Great Deku Tree and use it as their base.[5] However, Wizzro quickly summons a group of Gibdos to advance toward the Deku Tree and attack it.[6][7] Link, with the help of the rest of the Hyrulean Forces, are able to quickly dispatch of the Gibdos and secure their base, but before they are able to catch their breath, the wizard sets the Deku Tree on fire.[8] Thinking of a way to quench the flames, Proxi senses a Great Fairy in the northeast and suggests that she might be able to help them. Summoning the Great Fairy with the Magic Circle causes her to summon rain above the Deku Tree, extinguishing the fire. The Hyrulean Forces chase after Wizzro, but he vanishes as soon as they reach him and instead summons Gohma to defeat them instead.[9] Although Gohma begins to viciously attack the Deku Tree, the giant arachnid is defeated before it can do any grave damage, thus saving the village from destruction.[10]

With the threat gone from the forest, Impa laments the fact that Princess Zelda was nowhere to be found in the woods and wishes for the goddesses to protect her as they continue their search.[11]

After the Scenario finishes, Lana becomes a playable character and her weapon, the Book of Sorcery, becomes available for use.

The Girl in the Green Tunic[]

"The Girl in the Green Tunic" follows after the events of "The Sorceress of the Woods", beginning with a cutscene in which Linkle awakens in a small village. Responding to a call outside her house, she meets fellow villagers, who inform her that Hyrule Castle is under attack,[12] referencing the events of "The Invasion Begins" and "The Armies of Ruin". In response, Linkle runs back inside her home to don battle-worthy gear to join the battle in defense of Hyrule, claiming to secretly be a "legendary hero."[13] She holds her "magic" compass, a gift from her grandmother, as proof before setting off.[14] Approaching a crossroads, Linkle takes the wrong path, leading towards Faron Woods rather than to the castle in Hyrule Field.

After becoming lost in Faron Woods, the Skull Kid steals her compass. Believing it to be proof of her destiny, she attacks the Skull Kid in the hopes of retrieving it.[15]

The battle begins with Cuccos aiding Linkle as she aims to assault the Skull Kid's Forces.[16] When she comes within range of him, he teleports away to the Eastern Tree Keep and taunts Linkle.[17] Shortly thereafter, the Skull Kid opens the Eastern Tree Keep, prompting Linkle to advance towards it. However, once she reaches it, the Skull Kid will teleport once more to the North Square Keep, which closes and spawns a Gatekeeper to control the gates to it.[18]

When Linkle reaches the North Square Keep and defeats the Gatekeeper, the Skull Kid disappears, telling her to seek him out if she wants the compass.[19] After this, several Keeps controlled by the Skull Kid are opened, and his Forces advance to the Allied Base. The Skull Kid hides himself in one of a number of Keeps, appearing once Linkle approaches.

Upon finding the Skull Kid, he will refuse to return the compass and attack instead.[20] After sustaining enough damage, he will retreat to another Keep, where he will spawn monsters unless intercepted. When confronted, he will flee to the Fairy Fountain. As Linkle enters the Fairy Fountain, her compass will begin to shine, dazzling the Skull Kid.[21] Defeating him will then allow Linkle to regain her compass. Once she reclaims it, the Skull Kid will apologize before leaving,[22] allowing Linkle to resume her journey to Hyrule Castle.

Throughout this Scenario, a series of optional Side Missions begin as Cucco Chicks appear, looking for food. Linkle may elect to aid the Cucco Chicks to reach their respective Feeding Grounds. When they reach the Feeding Grounds, they will eat enough to turn into Gold Cuccos and enter the battle. However, on their way to the Feeding Grounds, they may be attacked by hordes of monsters intent on assaulting the Cucco Chicks, forcing Linkle to aid them.

Trivia[]

  • Many of the lines spoken by the Skull Kid in "The Girl in the Green Tunic" are references to the Skull Kid's dialogue in Majora's Mask. These are as follows:
    • "Oh, come now... Do you really think you can beat me as I am now? Fool!"[23]
    • "What's with that stupid monster?! It's no use at all..."[24]
    • "Let's play hide-and-seek! Check every keep if you want to see it again!"[25]
    • "Hee, hee! See, more monsters! If you think they can be stopped, then just try to stop them!"[26]
