In 100% runs (and I'll use OoT as an example), wouldn't it also be necessary to empty the game's chests (in the dungeons and also in the overworld I guess, such as the ones in Hyrule Field's pits), and to get the Compass and Dungeon Map? What about exploring all rooms in a dungeon to have them highlighted?ElectroSpecter 08:59, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

:The map and compass collection is already on the General section, where stuff applying to all (or almost all) games. Regarding opening chests and visiting every single room .... I know doing that can be considered another type of sidequest (in several games, such as Castlevania, there's a percentage telling how many rooms you have visited). However, I'm not sure whether or not a Zelda file will really get a difference by doing things that aren't in any way acknowledged by the game itself. I myself never got every single sunken chest in TWW (Treasure Charts chests yes, but that's it) because it's a ROYAL PAIN IN THE REAR, and having to do that every time I start a playthrough of the game (and one that resets almost all progress at the start of the Second Quest, no less) is masochistic. But I guess that's not the point. What is relevant, though, is that the game doesn't really mind whether or not you spend late nights opening every sunken chest because, for one, there's nothing in those chests that you can't find elsewhere. Some spoil treasure? Rupees? Though some of the Treasure Charts do pinpoint at Silver Rupees, a red dot acknowledges that you made good use of each Chart, and that can be used to attest 100% completion. See what I mean now? -- 11:11, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

::If you never got all chests in TWW, then you never 100% it, sorry. And if you think that doing stuff like that is "a ROYAL PAIN IN THE REAR" and masochistic, then why the heck are you 100%ing games? - Dere 03:30, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

:Regarding exploring every dungeon room, I'm fairly mixed about that. Though it's a legitimate waste of time going to a room just to break some pots and get Rupees and hearts, the map does acknowledge that you entered that room, so that may be included in the General section. Just let's not get too compulsively obsessed (no offense towards people actually suffering this, I promise) about what to do to really have a file "complete". In some games, all you need is to get all Heart Pieces, bottles and wallet upgrades and you're done. Games like TWW and SS, understandably, are more ambiguous due to either the many details present, or the ephimeral nature of some of the collectibles (upgraded your shields in the Bazaar? Nice, now sell them in the Item Check). But this still shouldn't be rocket science, it's good to use common sense here. -- 11:18, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

Horses are recurring animals in Series. In nearly every game where Horses are present, they serve as a mode of faster transportation, allowing Link to travel from one point to another in less time.

Rollgoal
Few notable Horses have appeared in the series, the most notable of which being Epona, Link's Horse companion who appears in several Zelda games following her debut in OoT. Ganondorf's Steed is another notable Horse, which Ganondorf can be seen riding in several cinematic cutscenes.

  +
Should doing Level 8-8 on Rollgoal be included for 100% Completion. I think all you get for doing it is the Frog Lure (at 1-8), and it probably doesn't really show that you've done it anywhere. If you get anything I think it's just rupees, and rupees aren't really a very important item towards 100% completion. --Planetbox (talk) 00:01, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

:Yes, I believe it should be included. While some people may view it as insignificant, I'm sure that there are many who would like to know about this, and would consider it to be a vital part of their 100% run. Horses in the games first appeared in OoT. Lon Lon Ranch keeps several Horses, which are raised as riding and jumping Horses. By day, the Horses are left outside to graze and gallop around the corral. At night the Horses are kept in the Stable with the Cows, where they are watched over by Ingo in Talon's stead. The majority of Lon Lon Ranch's Horses resemble Kiger Mustangs. The ranch also keeps an unique Horse named Epona, who Malon is especially fond of. This wild Horse at first runs away from Link, but is quickly tamed and befriended when Malon teaches him "Epona's Song".

The ending scenes that don't show the main characters (bar, cucco, maiamai, etc.) seem to change based on completing sidequests in game. For the Cucco, you can unlock a giant Cucco, for the Maiamai, it shows all 101 singing to you. Has anyone figured out whether the other scenes also vary?KrytenKoro (talk) 02:56, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Ocarina of Time also introduces horseback riding to the series, which allows Link to travel at faster speed and even jump over fences. Link can speed up the Horse he is riding by whipping it for up to six boosts, which appear on-screen as carrots to indicate the Horse's stamina. Link can also use the Fairy Bow to shoot Arrows while riding, which functions as his only weapon while on horseback. Horseback riding becomes available only when Link is an adult, and is mainly achieved by riding Epona once he obtains her.

:I think the scene on the StreetPass meadow shows the current signs. However, since this is only temporary, it shouldn't count. I'm not sure about the Milk Bar, but the guy from Death Mountain gets covered by the five bottles. :::Also: it's a set of events, rather than anything that shows up on the item screen, but the friends and family of the sages all change their dialogue based on whether you talk to them after you rescue their Sage or not. For example, the Blacksmith's wife stops freaking out after you rescue Gulley and talk to her. On the other hand, once you beat the game, you have all the Sages and it's impossible to not flip this flag when you try to test it. Should this be mentioned?KrytenKoro (talk) 19:57, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

::::Another one: Since the game keeps track of it (and it's not permanently subject to change, as with deaths), would the end-game rupee count or mini-game scores be viable additions?KrytenKoro (talk) 22:18, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
  +
:::::Statistics and scores should never be subject to 100% completion, unless they are required to unlock something. So, only the 999.99 Cucco Run really counts, because it sadistically unlocks the giant Cucco. Octoball is the only other minigame that has a "perfect score", but here nothing gets unlocked. And in all the other minigames you can always improve, so you potentially always get better at them. The Rupee counter at the end can be maximized to 99,999, but I don't see how this is relevant for 100%. It's not like in NSMB2, where doing that unlocks a different title screen. Trust me, I tried. :-D TourianTourist (talk) 14:45, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Initially Ingo will provide a different Horse for Link to ride, however Link can tame and ride Epona by playing "Epona's Song". Link can also challenge Ingo to a Horse race around the corral for a bet of Rupees. If Link beats him the first time, Ingo will demand a rematch and bets Epona on the race's outcome. If he is defeated the second time, Ingo keeps his promise by letting Link keep the Horse, but traps the both of them in by locking the gates. Link and Epona manage to escape by jumping over the ranch's walls. Afterwards, Link can ride Epona anytime in Hyrule Field by playing "Epona's Song" to call her.

Would it be acceptable to add "have save file be a new game+"? I always end up with four save files: Link1 OoS + Link2 OoA, Link1 OoA + Link2 OoS, all with the "already beat Ganon" emblem on them.KrytenKoro (talk) 05:07, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
While Epona is mainly used as a faster method of travel, she is notably required to hunt for the Big Poes in Hyrule Field, as well as participate in the Horseback Archery Range at the Gerudo Fortress. The host of the mini-game also owns a Horse, but will only let Link play if he brings his own.

:You mean files that were started by the Hero's Secret? I would agree. You need to do this anyway to collect all 64 rings. The current Oracle of Ages & Seasons section doesn't make much sense and needs some updating. I tried to change it yesterday, but it was undone. But it's impossible to collect all 64 rings in a new game without any linking. So, the 100% requirement for a new game can never be fulfilled. Unless you count that you can still transfer the rings from your later games. But in this case you are also able to collect the upgrades like the L-3 sword and shield in a new game as well in the same fashion. Only the 16th Heart Container should be impossible to get in a new game. TourianTourist (talk) 13:42, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

:No, it doesn't. As soon as you get the Seashell Sword, the Seashells disappear from your menu. Which is why I removed this requirement yesterday. As soon as you get the Seashell Sword, there's nothing about the seashells to be found in the game. The 6 remaining seashells will be removed or replaced by 20 Rupees, when they are in treasure chests. But this falls under the "open all treasure chests" requirement anyway. So, I don't see, why you should collect all 26 seashells for 100%, when there's no proof in the game that you ever did. You only need 20 for the sword. TourianTourist (talk) 14:36, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
In MM, Link rides a young Epona while searching for his missing friend, Navi. His Horse is soon captured and stolen by the Skull Kid after a confrontation, prompting a chase through the woods that ultimately leads Link to Termina. Link eventually finds Epona at Romani Ranch, and relearns "Epona's Song" from Romani. Majora's Mask features identical horseback riding to Ocarina of Time. Epona is even necessary to enter the Great Bay and Ikana Canyon due to the fences blocking the roads to these regions.

TP reintroduces horseback riding in a similar vein to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Link's Horse is Epona, whom he uses to herd the Ordon Goats at the Ordon Ranch. Horseback riding has similar controls to the aforementioned games, as Link is able to kick Epona to speed her up for up to six speed boosts, which are indicated on-screen as spurs to display Epona's stamina. Link can also fight enemies while on horseback using his Sword, as well as the Hero's Bow to snipe enemies. Link can call Epona anywhere in Hyrule Field by either finding and whistling into Horse Grass, or by using the Horse Call once he obtains it.

:Oh, didn't see this here. Answers: Yes it should, and yes it does. The quest screen displays your time, greened out once you get 25:00, and the game also acknowledges it by giving you golden ship parts once you reach Bellum's chamber. For that matter, pretty much every minigame that allows the concept of a perfect score gives you some kind of item for it and is listed on this page; everything else is just a "highest score possible" type of game that has no strict perfect score.KrytenKoro (talk) 16:15, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Several Horses appear in BotW, including Epona. Link is able to ride Horses in this game, including the wild Horses, by sneaking up to them and jumping on their backs. Alternatively, Link may also simply land on the horse's back from above. Once Link jumps on a wild horse's back, he must soothe the horse while riding until it accepts Link's control. Different horses are different in their difficulty of breaking. When successfully soothed, the wild horse will give off red circles and sparkles as a particle effect. Horses also require an action to start moving, described as "Yah!"ing by the game's UI. Wild horses follow in the in-game paths set into the ground.

::are you sure? I have a save with a perfect score of 25:00 and one with a score of 24:00 and both show up the same in the status screen. Both also show the clear time in red and not in green. There is no difference on the status screen. Also do you mean the 2 chests? because when you get a perfect score, the ship parts in the 2 are still somewhat random. I know that I didn't get a golden ship part when I did it atleast. A perfect score is nice, but if the game doesn't acknowledge it in any way I don't really think it should count for the 100%. ::I have the EU version, but I watched some videos on youtube doing the challenge as well and some of them also didn't get any gold parts. I also searched online for pics of other people with the record in their quest screen and none of them had it colored green. +
::I'll try to get a screenshot when I get home, but I think that, even if I misremembered the color, the ocean king time should count because (1) it is very possible to get an objectively perfect score, and (2) the game displays that score front and center. There are probably more but like the TOTOK, they shouldn't really be counted, because there is nothing that acknowledge it. No new dialogue, no colors, not even a "Perfect!" next to the record or something. ( I'm not sure about octoball, since I can't find anybody that has a perfect score on it, but I just hope nothing happens)One that should be counted though, is Nyeve's sword training minigame. 100 Points gives you a piece of hearth, but you need to get I think 200+ to get the additional dialogue. I don't think 999 was necessary. I didn't see it on the list. And while we are on the topic on PH, aren't there only 31 charts? Qnez (talk) 20:38, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

:For the horseback archery game -- given that the record is actually displayed in your house, I'd be hard pressed to deny it a place on this page too. Same with Octoball. For Nyeve -- no dialogue in the game changes, and I don't think it keeps track of what you got last time you fought him, does it? I mean, we're counting the Spirit Tracks and Wind Waker versions of the same mini-game for nothing more than certain characters calling you a different name; I think getting a "25:00" and actual top-tier items as rewards would count for the Ocean Temple.
  +
:It seems at this point that we should just get a third opinion. I, personally, would count anything that causes a permanent change to the game, as well as anything that shows up on the quest screen to count; however, I've had that shot down regarding the deaths and total rupees that ALBW calls out, so who knows.KrytenKoro (talk) 22:29, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
  +
::You still get top tier rewards for lesser times in the ocean temple. You don't need 25:00 for a chance on a golden part. Also I'm not very sure if Nyeve changes his dialogue after certain hits (although I recall he does) but he does record your top record that you hit him. I agree that permanent change should be counted, yes, But perfect records without any in game change whatsoever goes a bit too far. Unless the game makes clear in any way whatsoever that you get the perfect record, it should not count. While the total death number in ALBW doesn't count in my book, I'm still not sure about the total rupees. The counter turns yellow indicating your on the max and there is no way to decrease your total, but this also means you probably need max deaths, so I think I'll let this one pass. :::Okay, checked it and I was confusing the "total sand obtained" for the "temple clear time". You were right that the temple clear time is in red (and there are 31 charts). There doesn't seem to be any visual difference in the clear record other than the number itself. That said, I still think it's fair for inclusion, and still think we need a third opinion.KrytenKoro (talk) 02:10, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

::::Personally, I think it should only matter if there's a reward for it. For example, while getting the perfect score for the endless cucco rush game in ALBW is insanely tough, but there is a reward for it, and therefore I would think it qualifies as "100%" worthy. Just my opinion. If we can get some screenshots or something to prove that the game acknowledges the perfect 25:00 in the ToTOK, then I'm totally okay with adding that in. 12:57, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
  +
:::Agreed with Justin, it should only be included if you actually get something from it, not just numbers. In the TotOK you don't get anything from doing the 25 minutes to spare, the time always shows in red, and acording to the official guide, the ship parts that appear have nothing to do with the time.Chuck (talk) 05:51, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

I'll research this further, see if I can verify the trigger for the chests.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:58, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
Wild horses can also be brought to a stable to register and save them for future use, after paying some rupees. Horses are also named once they are brought to stables. Once Link returns to a stable, he can take any horse out that he has registered. After being brought to a stable, a saddle and horseshoes are placed upon the wild horse. Horses that are brought to a stable also respond to Link's whistle, returning to him within a certain range.

Should we count the multiplayer ranking of Spirit Tracks as 100%?
  +
I was kinda wondering about this. Although battle mode has nothing to do with the single player, the rank is still stuck to your file. So if you want a complete file, I think this should be considered. And unlike Phantom hourglass, your ranking can't decrease (I tried everything, but even disconnecting doesn't do the trick.) so it can only rise and is a permanent change to your file. I'm not even sure what comes after H, since I can't find any info about it at all, but if its like PH, it will end with SS rank. What do you guys think? Qnez (talk) 21:06, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
Wild horses have a random amount of uses of speed boost, as compared to Epona's five in OoT, MM and TP. The on-horse camera is free in BotW, unlike the locked camera in OoT, MM and TP. Link boosts the horses in BotW by spurring them with his boots, as opposed to whipping them. Unlike in any previous games, Link can mount his horse at any angle: from the front, from the side, from the back and from above.

  +
::I think the answer to this is going to be tied in with the answer to the question above; the ranking is only slightly less visible than the clear time.KrytenKoro (talk) 22:13, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

::::I don't see the difference. As far as the two are concerned, we're talking about an un-changeable (except in the upward direction) symbol prominently displayed on a save file that measures how well the player completed a major sidequest. Technically, the ranking is less visible than the clear time, being on a separate game mode, and is not related to 100% completion, as the clear time is, by definition, part of clearing the story mode, while the ranking is obtained by repeatedly clearing multiple randomized tasks that are not otherwise recorded. I can see the argument for including the ranking, but it seems to be a pretty clear facet that if the ranking is accepted, any rationale for doing so would justify the clear time just as (if not more) strongly.KrytenKoro (talk) 23:09, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

  +
::::::Its still part of your save file. I'm still not sure if it should count, but I personally wanted to do it anyways. Well, I managed to do it with 4 DSes and 2 games. Took me 2 days and apparently the Ranks go from H,G,F,E,D,C,B,A, 1 star, 2 stars and when you finally hit 15000 points you get 3 stars. The points don't add anymore after that, and they can't decrease either. Qnez (talk) 14:37, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

::It would definitely be worth a Ranking article.
Horses can damage enemies if the horse runs through them. Link also receives a "bullet time" period of combat time once jumping off the horse at the price of stamina. When damaged, horses partially lose their ability to boost, as shown by red flashing over the spur icon. Horses suffer from permadeath, meaning that once they die, Link cannot get them back.

I know that before, for 100% completion in Ocarina of Time, it was necessary to speak with the dying guard or shoot the windows in Zelda's courtyard since they were a one-time thing. My question is, would that still count for OOT? Likewise, would talking to the dying priest in the Sanctuary in ALttP or the village elder/Sahasrahowever you spell his name count since he marks the Eastern Palace on your map at the beginning of the game, and you can't get him to mark it again? I know this sounds VERY OCD, but I'm just curious. Thanks :)

These are somewhat odd, in my mind. I know we don't consider consumables or switch-form items for 100% completion, but the magical shield, once bought, cannot be downgraded without losing the shield to a like like, and the food fills a space in the inventory despite being consumable.

Okay, to clarify the listed requirements:
  +
*"Collect all Medals" includes the following subrequirements:
  +
**Unlock all warriors (also subrequirement of getting A on every Adventure Mode map, getting all weapons, getting all badges, and reaching level 99)
  +
**Unlock all weapons
  +
**Complete all Legend Mode scenarios on Hero difficulty
  +
*"Complete Rewards Map scenarios includes the following subrequirements:
  +
**Find all Skulltulas
  +
**Complete all Legend Mode scenarios on Hard difficulty
  +
*"Collect all weapons" and "Find all Pieces of Heart and Heart Containers" includes the following subrequirements:
  +
**Collect all rewards in Adventure Mode and Adventure Mode Master Quest
  +
**(Arguably, the "open all treasure chests" super-requirement supersedes the PoH and HC requirement itself, meaning per the page's method, it should be excluded.
  +
  +
As far as I'm aware, the Rewards Map doesn't have rewards beyond the two new costumes for Link, which are awarded simply for completing the missions rather than ranking the level or finding a chest in it. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
  +
  +
For Legend Mode, it's possible to meet every other requirement and get every medal by playing it only on Hard and Hero. For Adventure Mode (Master Quest only), you can get every reward but still get Bs on some levels (you can get every reward and retain Bs on regular Adventure Mode, but you wouldn't get the medal).
  +
  +
Honestly, I would roll the "perfect your warrior" requirements into one list, to more clearly delineate between grinding your character and completing missions:
  +
*Realize the full potential of each Warrior
  +
**Reach level 99
  +
**Craft each Badge
  +
**Obtain all Pieces of Heart and Heart Containers.
  +
**Obtain all Costumes.
  +
  +
So, following the requirements of the rest of the article, the list should be something like:
  +
  +

*Realize the full potential of each Warrior
  +
**Reach level 99
  +
**Craft each Badge
  +
**Obtain all Pieces of Heart and Heart Containers.
  +
**Obtain all Costumes.
  +
*Complete all Legend Mode scenarios on Easy and Normal mode.
  +
*Complete all Adventure Mode Master Quest scenarios with an "A" rank.
  +
*Complete all Adventure Mode Rewards Map scenarios.
  +
*Obtain all Medals.
  +

:Completing scenarios on Easy or Normal difficulty puts a check on them. So I still fail to see why they're not included. They should be. You can also only get the Hard Mode Skulltulas by fulfilling their requirements only in Hard or Hero Mode. So really, all of the difficulties should be included. Completing the Rewards Map block puts a rank medal on them, so you'd still have reason to complete them all in A Rank. The Map completion should still mention "all rewards" though, just to be clear on things. -The Goron Moron (talk) 00:39, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

The attack that does appear in A Link Between Worlds, an enhanced upgrade of the normal Spin Attack, would be linked as "Hidden Skill#Great Spin"; although most of that page is Twilight Princess-centric, the Great Spin section does cover its A Link Between Worlds incarnation (the Fatal Blow from Skyward Sword is also covered under the Ending Blow section), and any mentions of the ALBW technique would be better off linked that way...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 04:26, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

The Windfall Island tutorial event should be added to the list, as it can only be done once and it causes a pot to spawn in front of the jail for the rest of the game.

I still need to investigate it further, but I'm pretty sure some of those other Tingle Tuner events do not count towards 100% completion. The Tower of the Gods & Forbidden Woods events don't lead to any sort of items, and can be repeated as much as you want. (I'm not sure on this though, like I said, I'm gonna look into it). :Well technically, I suppose none of the Tingle Tuner events would count towards 100%, because 100% is completely self-imposed by the player. Some people may not consider the Tingle Tuner necessary at all, especially those who lack the necessary products to use it. This needs to be added. It's basically clearing all 128 challenges both in single- and multiplayer, getting 15 Friendly Tokens from the kid and collecting all costumes (which includes viewing the ending and clearing the Den of Trials). Not sure about getting 30 / 100 Hero Points, since you could technically lose them again. Chests

The map and compass collection is already on the General section, where stuff applying to all (or almost all) games. --User:K2L/sig 11:11, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
If you never got all chests in TWW, then you never 100% it, sorry. And if you think that doing stuff like that is "a ROYAL PAIN IN THE REAR" and masochistic, then why the heck are you 100%ing games? - Dere 03:30, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Regarding exploring every dungeon room, I'm fairly mixed about that. --User:K2L/sig 11:18, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
Sorry, I totally missed the general section for some reason! I have the same feelings about the dungeon room exploration, I'm glad you didn't just give a straight "no, it doesn't matter" answer. I agree with your statement about common sense. ElectroSpecter 11:24, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

I caught a Hylian Loach in "Ocarina of Time" today, and when I check the record of biggest fish caught in Link's house, it's not been saved. So, catching a Hylian Loach should not be required for 100% completion. Thegoodguy3221 16:24, 26 July 2012 (EDT)

Rollgoal

Should doing Level 8-8 on Rollgoal be included for 100% Completion. I think all you get for doing it is the Frog Lure (at 1-8), and it probably doesn't really show that you've done it anywhere. If you get anything I think it's just rupees, and rupees aren't really a very important item towards 100% completion. --Planetbox (talk) 00:01, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I believe it should be included. While some people may view it as insignificant, I'm sure that there are many who would like to know about this, and would consider it to be a vital part of their 100% run. People can just choose to ignore it if they don't feel like they have to do it. Dannyboy601Talk 16:17, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

A Link Between Worlds

The ending scenes that don't show the main characters (bar, cucco, maiamai, etc.) seem to change based on completing sidequests in game. For the Cucco, you can unlock a giant Cucco, for the Maiamai, it shows all 101 singing to you. Has anyone figured out whether the other scenes also vary?KrytenKoro (talk) 02:56, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

I think the scene on the StreetPass meadow shows the current signs. However, since this is only temporary, it shouldn't count. I'm not sure about the Milk Bar, but the guy from Death Mountain gets covered by the five bottles. TourianTourist (talk) 13:45, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Also: it's a set of events, rather than anything that shows up on the item screen, but the friends and family of the sages all change their dialogue based on whether you talk to them after you rescue their Sage or not.
Another one: Since the game keeps track of it (and it's not permanently subject to change, as with deaths), would the end-game rupee count or mini-game scores be viable additions?KrytenKoro (talk) 22:18, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Statistics and scores should never be subject to 100% completion, unless they are required to unlock something.

Oracles

Would it be acceptable to add "have save file be a new game+"? I always end up with four save files: Link1 OoS + Link2 OoA, Link1 OoA + Link2 OoS, all with the "already beat Ganon" emblem on them.KrytenKoro (talk) 05:07, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

You mean files that were started by the Hero's Secret?
Okay, I now updated the OoX section to meet these standards. I added a note about how to use the Hero's Secret. TourianTourist (talk) 16:31, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Further question: Should the Oracle section include all the "earn X ring by defeating X enemies/finding X rupees" items? The counters still run for these rings even if you've already gotten them by linking.KrytenKoro (talk) 17:02, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I've added those to the list. TourianTourist (talk) 17:08, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Those rings are included in the 64 total ring count, so there's no point in including them apart. Besides, this isn't meant to be a guide on how to get every item. Chuck (talk) 23:56, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
You can get them through the password or ring trading without triggering the flag, but the flags are still there, and the game is keeping track of your completion in this regard.KrytenKoro (talk) 02:14, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Link's Awakening Seashells

This is kinda silly, but does the game keep the value of seashells you had after you collected the Lv2 Sword? I would test this myself if i could :( I think we should test stuff like this for all games. PPLToast (talk) 11:11, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

No, it doesn't.
I mean like if you look at the value on an emulator, does it still say 26 or does it change to 0? Im aware of the 20 rupeee thing, but this needs investigating. PPLToast (talk) 20:26, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Once you get the sword the Seashell icon disappears completeley from the menu. Chuck (talk) 23:56, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

The Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks

Is there any chance we'd consider "having full stock of each spoil/treasure/vehicle part" a goal?KrytenKoro (talk) 22:18, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

That really seems like a stretch. Should collecting multiples of every ship part and read every piece of diologue also be requirements? It's not like it affects anything in the game. Champion of Nayru (talk) 22:52, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
No, because that's nothing permanent. You can always go and sell all your treasures, spoils and ship parts. It's like having 999 Rupees, it looks nice, but it's subject to change. And like the article states in the beginning, these things don't count: "Actions like not dying or always having a maximum amount of items, such as Rupees, Bombs, or Arrows, do not count into completion due to their permanent subject to change status." TourianTourist (talk) 04:01, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Four Swords Adventures

I'm pretty sure that the Tingle Towers and the Shadow Battle maps get unlocked automatically by simply playing through the game... so, there shouldn't be anything about this game that you can actually miss. Can anyone confirm? TourianTourist (talk) 04:18, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

You need to play multiplayer throughout the game to unlock the Tingle Tower stages. If you play single player, they won't appear, however, I suppose they might appear as soon as you try multiplayer. I think the Shadow Battle maps are unlocked when you complete the game normally, however. User:Fizzle/sig 19:18, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
The Tingle Towers appear automatically, as soon as you play in multiplayer and visit the eight worlds. They disappear again, as soon as you return to singleplayer. TourianTourist (talk) 16:38, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
You need to visit each realm while playing Multiplayer for them to unlock. Any unlocked minigames can be viewed from Tingle's Tower, so for ex. if you first do multiplayer in realm 8, only the eighth minigame will be unlocked in the Tower. It is very, very easy to complete, since no actual "playing" is involved, but its still a measure of completion.KrytenKoro (talk) 19:57, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

The Wind Waker HD

Just to clarify this, since this has been undone by the user Chuck again and again and I'm getting tired of it: there are only 61 charts in the HD version, the exact same number as in the original TWW. They removed five Triforce Charts and they added five new Treasure Charts to fill the blanks. 61 - 5 + 5 = 61. Easy math. The HD version doesn't have 66 charts in total, so please stop writing that it does. Thanks. TourianTourist (talk) 16:45, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

I also want to apologize for this, I misread the existing note and made an assumption while reorganizing the page. I should not have done that, so again, apologies.KrytenKoro (talk) 20:35, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

ALttP Great Fairies

"Unlock the new Great Fairy appearances."

What is this talking about? I can't find any information on what this could mean. Is it in reference to the Great Fairies of Four Swords?KrytenKoro (talk) 20:35, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

The Great Fairies in Four Swords change appearance in the Anniversary Edition once you obtain the Hero's Keys and defeat Vaati (which isn't required to unlock the other things listed). In retrospect, doing that should probably just be listed as a requirement in itself. User:Fizzle/sig 03:35, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

"Complete the Temple of the Ocean King with 25 minutes to spare. "

Should this really count for 100% on Phantom hourglass? If I remember correctly the game doesn't acknowledge you doing so in any way at all. If this should be counted for 100%, then really, shouldn't every minigame that you can get a perfect score on be counted?(like Octoball Derby)Qnez (talk) 03:01, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

Oh, didn't see this here. Answers: Yes it should, and yes it does. The quest screen displays your time, greened out once you get 25:00, and the game also acknowledges it by giving you golden ship parts once you reach Bellum's chamber. For that matter, pretty much every minigame that allows the concept of a perfect score gives you some kind of item for it and is listed on this page; everything else is just a "highest score possible" type of game that has no strict perfect score.KrytenKoro (talk) 16:15, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
are you sure? I have a save with a perfect score of 25:00 and one with a score of 24:00 and both show up the same in the status screen. Both also show the clear time in red and not in green. There is no difference on the status screen. Also do you mean the 2 chests? because when you get a perfect score, the ship parts in the 2 are still somewhat random. I know that I didn't get a golden ship part when I did it atleast. A perfect score is nice, but if the game doesn't acknowledge it in any way I don't really think it should count for the 100%. Qnez (talk) 19:53, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
There's also the fact that it shows on the quest screen at all, and that a perfect score is doable (meaning the game does record it), but...which version of the game are you playing? I'll see if I can find a way to upload a screenshot for mine, but I've definitely gotten gold ship parts every time I finish with a 25.
I have the EU version, but I watched some videos on youtube doing the challenge as well and some of them also didn't get any gold parts. I also searched online for pics of other people with the record in their quest screen and none of them had it colored green. There are also minigames which can have a perfect score and that the game keeps a record of but are not in this list. The fact alone that it is on the collection screen shouldn't really matter. Qnez (talk) 20:15, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
From what I've had explained to me, the question about minigames is whether the result is visible. Malon's obstacle course counts because you get a cow; the Shooting Ranges in OoT count because you get a Bullet Bag or Quiver; the Cucco game in ALBW counts because you get a giant chicken.
I'll try to get a screenshot when I get home, but I think that, even if I misremembered the color, the ocean king time should count because (1) it is very possible to get an objectively perfect score, and (2) the game displays that score front and center. For comparison, are there any other minigames with objectively perfect scores that we don't list on this page?KrytenKoro (talk) 20:23, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
You can get a perfect score in octoball Derby, which the games keeps a record of, also the horseback archery game in OOT can have a perfect score of 2000, and you can view the record in your house.
For the horseback archery game -- given that the record is actually displayed in your house, I'd be hard pressed to deny it a place on this page too.
It seems at this point that we should just get a third opinion.
You still get top tier rewards for lesser times in the ocean temple. Qnez (talk) 23:11, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the correction on the golden ship parts and Nyeve. I still think we'll need a third opinion, though, because we seem to have reached an impasse.KrytenKoro (talk) 23:56, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Okay, checked it and I was confusing the "total sand obtained" for the "temple clear time".
Personally, I think it should only matter if there's a reward for it. For example, while getting the perfect score for the endless cucco rush game in ALBW is insanely tough, but there is a reward for it, and therefore I would think it qualifies as "100%" worthy. Just my opinion. If we can get some screenshots or something to prove that the game acknowledges the perfect 25:00 in the ToTOK, then I'm totally okay with adding that in.User:Justin/sig 12:57, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Agreed with Justin, it should only be included if you actually get something from it, not just numbers. In the TotOK you don't get anything from doing the 25 minutes to spare, the time always shows in red, and acording to the official guide, the ship parts that appear have nothing to do with the time.Chuck (talk) 05:51, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
That guide has a ton of errors, tho...I've consistently gotten golden ship parts from a good time, and the youtube videos I've seen don't even have the treasure chests appear, and they got less than 20. I'll research this further, see if I can verify the trigger for the chests.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:58, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Should we count the multiplayer ranking of Spirit Tracks as 100%?

I was kinda wondering about this. Although battle mode has nothing to do with the single player, the rank is still stuck to your file. So if you want a complete file, I think this should be considered. And unlike Phantom hourglass, your ranking can't decrease (I tried everything, but even disconnecting doesn't do the trick.) so it can only rise and is a permanent change to your file. I'm not even sure what comes after H, since I can't find any info about it at all, but if its like PH, it will end with SS rank. What do you guys think? Qnez (talk) 21:06, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

I think the answer to this is going to be tied in with the answer to the question above; the ranking is only slightly less visible than the clear time.KrytenKoro (talk) 22:13, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
I wouldn't say a record is the same as a ranking though. Qnez (talk) 22:25, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
I don't see the difference.
I'd have to say "no" to this, just because it's not really part of the main game. In fact, I don't even think that many people played it, since I've literally never heard anyone talk about it. Just my two cents, there.User:Justin/sig 12:57, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Its still part of your save file.
It would definitely be worth a Ranking article.
Personally, I've got no objection to including it as long as we include Temple Clear Time too.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:06, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Sheikah Stone in Skyward Sword

I can't remember on this one -- are there any hints it gives you that aren't completed simply by beating the game? Also, does it go to sleep after you complete every hint like the OoT version does?KrytenKoro (talk) 23:01, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

And do the Hint Ghosts in ALBW do anything once you buy a hint, or do you still have to buy the hint if you talk to them again?KrytenKoro (talk) 23:02, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
The ghosts stay in their spot even after buying the hint or solving the puzzle, so you can always buy the hint again. Chuck (talk) 05:59, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

How many songs?

In the Ocarina of Time section, it is written "Learn all 14 songs, including the Scarecrow's Song.". This is the list of the songs of Ocarina of Time : http://zeldawiki.org/Ocarina_of_Time_%28Item%29#Songs_in_Ocarina_of_Time . As you can see the songs are 13, not 14. Which is the song #14?Gomess 512 (talk) 00:33, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Should be 13.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:59, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

A Link to the Past/Ocarina of Time 100% Completion?

I know that before, for 100% completion in Ocarina of Time, it was necessary to speak with the dying guard or shoot the windows in Zelda's courtyard since they were a one-time thing. My question is, would that still count for OOT? Likewise, would talking to the dying priest in the Sanctuary in ALttP or the village elder/Sahasrahowever you spell his name count since he marks the Eastern Palace on your map at the beginning of the game, and you can't get him to mark it again? I know this sounds VERY OCD, but I'm just curious. Thanks :)

Hidden Rupees Across All Games?

Would you guys consider the hidden rupees (the ones not in chests) to be essential for 100% completion? I'm talking the gold/silver ones in Twilight Princess for example, or the Big Green Rupees in Phantom Hourglass you get from digging.

JyleKohnston (talk) 18:15, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Do they come in a limited quantity, and once you get them all then there's no more to get?KrytenKoro (talk) 17:14, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Once you get them they don't reappear, so I guess it's a good idea to add them. Chuck (talk) 19:50, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
My only argument against it would be that some games don't even have a way to keep track of it in guides/walkthroughs. It's so ambiguous I feel like it'd be impossible as you wouldn't even know if there was one hidden until you miraculously found it somehow. JyleKohnston (talk) 00:18, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
I mean, there's still internet walkthroughs, right? We still keep track of Guide-Dang-It items on this page, even if they aren't tallied on any visible log.KrytenKoro (talk) 13:33, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, the Prima TP guide actually includes the location of those Silver Rupees. Chuck (talk) 20:29, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
They do list it, in two guides actually! Phantom Hourglass and Twilight Princess are the only ones I've seen, but there could be more. Some of them also show where a few of them are as you follow the walkthrough. Also, with the new "open all doors" stipulation, are there any that are deliberately out of the way? JyleKohnston (talk) 19:39, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

An old thread, but I do find this notable. While playing through Wind Waker, I have noticed numerous stand alone rupees that do not respawn after collecting them (One example are the rupees in the small pool on Dragon Roost Island to the left of where you arrive, and a red rupee at the top of a grapple point on the cliff). A thorough guide to these types of rupees could be useful to hardcore perfectionists, but none exist that I know of. WilliamRaine (talk) 07:48, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Maybe they can be added to the general section of the page, as more than one game includes some of them. - Chuck * (Talk) 19:44, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Magical Shield, Food

These are somewhat odd, in my mind. I know we don't consider consumables or switch-form items for 100% completion, but the magical shield, once bought, cannot be downgraded without losing the shield to a like like, and the food fills a space in the inventory despite being consumable.

Also, would we consider locating each of the Moblin hideouts to be a 100% completion? Some of them seem to be empty forever once found, although that might just be because I visited them recently.KrytenKoro (talk) 17:02, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

The Moblin hideouts sounds fine to me, as they change for the rest of the game once you get their Rupees. Just add how many there are and that should do it. Chuck (talk) 22:41, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Hyrule Warriors

Okay, to clarify the listed requirements:

  • "Collect all Medals" includes the following subrequirements:
    • Unlock all warriors (also subrequirement of getting A on every Adventure Mode map, getting all weapons, getting all badges, and reaching level 99)
    • Unlock all weapons
    • Complete all Legend Mode scenarios on Hero difficulty
  • "Complete Rewards Map scenarios includes the following subrequirements:
    • Find all Skulltulas
    • Complete all Legend Mode scenarios on Hard difficulty
  • "Collect all weapons" and "Find all Pieces of Heart and Heart Containers" includes the following subrequirements:
    • Collect all rewards in Adventure Mode and Adventure Mode Master Quest
    • (Arguably, the "open all treasure chests" super-requirement supersedes the PoH and HC requirement itself, meaning per the page's method, it should be excluded.

As far as I'm aware, the Rewards Map doesn't have rewards beyond the two new costumes for Link, which are awarded simply for completing the missions rather than ranking the level or finding a chest in it. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Honestly, I would roll the "perfect your warrior" requirements into one list, to more clearly delineate between grinding your character and completing missions:

  • Realize the full potential of each Warrior
    • Reach level 99
    • Craft each Badge
    • Obtain all Pieces of Heart and Heart Containers.
    • Obtain all Costumes.

So, following the requirements of the rest of the article, the list should be something like:

*Realize the full potential of each Warrior
**Reach level 99
**Craft each Badge
**Obtain all Pieces of Heart and Heart Containers.
**Obtain all Costumes.
*Complete all Legend Mode scenarios on Easy and Normal mode.
*Complete all Adventure Mode Master Quest scenarios with an "A" rank.
*Complete all Adventure Mode Rewards Map scenarios.
*Obtain all Medals.

Am I missing anything about how these requirements subset into each other?KrytenKoro (talk) 00:28, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Completing scenarios on Easy or Normal difficulty puts a check on them.
I think I may have miscommunicated:
  • The Legend Mode requirement needs to specify Easy and Normal at least.
  • The only non-completion rewards for any map are the Sealed Weapons in Legend Mode, and the Hearts in Legend Mode and Adventure Mode -- which we list as its own requirement.KrytenKoro (talk) 02:20, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
I suppose one could technically argue that having an inventory full of all of the item cards at once would be considered too. I'm just saying "(map's) all rewards" is something to add to clarify that the adventure mode maps DO give out awards.
And what I'm also saying is that difficulties should be cleared on Easy, Normal, Hard AND Hero. Not one or the other. -The Goron Moron (talk) 03:01, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Right. If you get all medals, complete all rewards maps with "A"s, and complete Legend Mode on Easy and Normal, you will have check marks on easy, normal, hard, and hero.KrytenKoro (talk) 15:36, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Um, no? If you were to complete the Scenarios in Normal and collect their regular Skulltulas, then collected the Hard Mode Skulltulas on Hero Mode, then you still wouldn't have checks on Easy or Hard. -The Goron Moron (talk) 00:55, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Ah, okay. I assumed from the name that you couldn't get the Hard Mode Skulltulas on Hero Mode. That clears that all up, then.KrytenKoro (talk) 13:40, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Big Octos

Should defeating Big Octos be counted to 100% The Wind Waker? Or is it already on the list but in an odd way, or something? --Planetbox (talk) 19:55, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Defeating the Big Octos makes light rings appear, which as far as I recall contain charts, heart pieces and so on. You'd have to kill all of the Big Octos to get those things anyway. -The Goron Moron (talk) 23:52, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Edit request

In the "A Link Between Worlds" section, there's a reference that reads "Great Spin Attack" that needs to be changed to simply "Great Spin". The latter (an enhanced version of the normal Spin Attack) is the move that's actually in A Link Between Worlds; the former is a variant of the Hurricane Spin, no variant of which appears in A Link Between Worlds. Thanks. --Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 04:08, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, Chuck, but the link is still not correct. "Spin Attack#Great Spin Attack" leads to the sword skill to which the Hurricane Spin is a variant of; that is not the attack that appears in A Link Between Worlds (as there's no ALBW data in the section that link leads to).
The Spin Attack page might need some work as it's kinda confusing as it is, so I'll try to update it later. - Chuck * (Talk) 04:30, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Tingle Tuner Completion Notes

The Windfall Island tutorial event should be added to the list, as it can only be done once and it causes a pot to spawn in front of the jail for the rest of the game.

I still need to investigate it further, but I'm pretty sure some of those other Tingle Tuner events do not count towards 100% completion. The Tower of the Gods & Forbidden Woods events don't lead to any sort of items, and can be repeated as much as you want. (I'm not sure on this though, like I said, I'm gonna look into it). WilliamRaine (talk) 07:45, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Well technically, I suppose none of the Tingle Tuner events would count towards 100%, because 100% is completely self-imposed by the player. Some people may not consider the Tingle Tuner necessary at all, especially those who lack the necessary products to use it. But anyway, I don't see why it can't be added. - Midoro (T C) 23:31, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Tri Force Heroes

This needs to be added. It's basically clearing all 128 challenges both in single- and multiplayer, getting 15 Friendly Tokens from the kid and collecting all costumes (which includes viewing the ending and clearing the Den of Trials). Not sure about getting 30 / 100 Hero Points, since you could technically lose them again. There's special dialogue, when you score 100 though. --TourianTourist (talk) 01:30, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

What are Hero Points?KrytenKoro (talk) 16:17, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Points you get when completing levels you didn't choose online. They can be shown to the merchant in exchange for gold materials. I'll update the page to add TFH in it. By the way, you have a source for the message you get from getting 100 Hero Points? - Chuck * (Talk) 19:33, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Official name origin?

Where does this page's official name comes from? Where is it stated? MannedTooth (talk) 04:30, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

I don't believe this page ever had the premise of its terminology being from an official Nintendo source. - TonyT S C 05:08, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
