After unlocking the main door following the defeat of the four mini-bosses, Link is able to access [[Princess Hilda]]'s office, which contains a portal back to [[Princess Zelda]]'s office in Hyrule that now contains several [[Fairies]]. Link follows the same path from Princess Hilda's private office to the Throne Room, where he learns of Princess Hilda's duplicity and conspiracy with Yuga to steal Hyrule's Triforce to restore Lorule, which lost its own Triforce when Hilda's ancestors destroyed it to stop the endless wars fought over it. After sharing this story with Link, Hilda steals the [[Triforce of Wisdom]] from Princess Zelda, who is contained in her painting nearby. She then summons Yuga Ganon, commanding him to take the [[Triforce of Courage]] from Link. The hero bests the beast, who transforms Princess Hilda into a painting as well, and absorbs it to gain the Triforce of Wisdom. Yuga Ganon then attempts the Triforce of Courage again, but falls to the blade of the [[Master Sword]], releasing both Hilda and Zelda.

Lorule Castle is a location in A Link Between Worlds. It is Lorule's incarnation of Hyrule Castle and thus is the home of the Royal Family of Lorule. The main item of the dungeon is the Red Mail.

Entrance to the Castle

Lorule Castle Entrance 2

Link prepares to enter Lorule Castle through its front door

After Yuga has abducted both Princess Zelda and Impa from Hyrule Castle, he spirits them away to Lorule Castle through a crack in Princess Zelda's private office. Link gives chase, using Ravio's Bracelet to follow the fiend, and arrives in the private office of Princess Hilda inside Lorule Castle. Following Yuga's merging with Ganon into Yuga Ganon, Hilda casts a barrier around Lorule Castle, blocking the entrance supposedly to keep Yuga and his minions from escaping. After Link has rescued all of the Seven Sages and obtained the Triforce of Courage, Hilda lifts the barrier blocking the entrance, allowing the hero access to the castle's interior through the front door.

Themes and Navigation

Lorule Castle Interior

The central chamber of Lorule Castle

By the time Link has gained the Triforce of Courage, Lorule Castle has been overrun by enemies who will attack Link on sight if he gets close enough. Lava fills much of the dungeon, making for a very perilous journey through the structure. Link must make use of Ravio's Bracelet in several instances to reach seemingly unreachable places. He must also manipulate light and darkness to see certain things that would otherwise be hidden to the eye. In some areas, Link must return orbs resembling eyeballs to their statues in order to open doors leading to the four sections of the castle. He must also make use of several of the items obtained from Ravio, such as the Hookshot, Bombs, Fire Rod, Ice Rod, etc in order to fully navigate the dungeon. The main item of the dungeon, the Red Mail, is found on a ledge at the southern edge of the fourth floor of the main chamber, where Link must put out the torches in order to see two small pathways that can be walked to reach the ledge.

Within each of the four major sections of the castle, Link must fight a boss or mini-boss he has faced previously throughout his adventure. These four enemies respectively are: Arrghus, a Ball and Chain Trooper, a Gigabari, and a Moldorm. With the defeat of each of these enemies, an image of them lights up on the main door leading to the inner sanctums of the castle. Once all four of these enemies is defeated, the door leading to Princess Hilda's private office and the Throne Room of the castle opens.
