As you may have noticed from the Recent Changes, I corrected many links linking to the Twilight Princess disambiguation page. I'm sort of a perfectionist, so I like to be thorough. It was already agreed upon that fixing these links on talk pages and user pages will help those users to remember how to correctly link to the respective page. There are still four pages left to be fixed at Pages that link to Twilight Princess. The one on the talk page stays because it is clearly said that that link is a link to the disambiguation page. Too many new users sign their posts wrong. They do something like this:

Image Copyrighting

I recently changed the Mystery Seed image to be transparent like the other seeds on the Mystical Seed page, but I had to make a new page since the JPG version wouldn't go transparent. Since it isn't my image, and I didn't scan it in, it didn't seem right to take any sort of credit for it. The original image (the jpg) was cited as contributed by Yuvorias, and I didn't know what to do with the copyright/citing of the new image. So here I am...do I cite it to Yuvorias, myself, Nintendo, or can I just not cite it and leave it be? User:Italiangenius91/sig 02:55, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

The way it's set up, is that if you "significantly" change the image, it should be put under your name. Do you think you made substantial changes? I'd ask him what he thinks on his talk page, if I were you.

This may be Internet Explorer related. My computer offers Firefox and IE, and I much prefer Firefox. If you're using IE, I suggest you research a Firefox download. Music?

Could it be possible for this Wiki to incorporate music files on ocarina song pages, or in general? I believe music clips from the actual games (used only for articles that necessitate it, like Requiem of Spirit or even the Twilight Princess theme to Hyrule Field) would add another dimension to the site, create extra interest, and fully-involve the reader along with the visuals and text already in the article. We had something similar to this a while ago on the Midna article, using YouTube audio-only clips in the article. Also, you'll find that most articles in the Songs category have a link with "listen to/play this song". If you were thinking of something more "integrated", we could talk about (and investigate implementing) an embedded MP3 player in articles. For the actual audio files themselves, I think we'd prefer to use externally hosted files. Not only does this minimise the amount of disk space the wiki uses, but it transfers the question of legality to the site(s) hosting the files instead of us ;) User:Adam/sig 12:52, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Yea, I was thinking about something a bit more integrated - yes, like a small mp3 player directly in the article itself! At that point, they could read about what went into the song/its importance and listen to it at the same time, without looking at some YouTube video distraction. The link to the Deku Temple page is broken btw :( How would we go about doing the mp3 thing?

Not only would it create a valuable interface, but it would increase the number of new pages dedicated only to theme songs, temple songs, intro/credits overtures, and in-game fanfare that would appeal to those wishing to find game music as well as factual info on the games. What Happened to the Article Count?!

The article count has dropped over 100 articles! What happened? Did someone replace the {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} with just a number? Or did we lose articles? Or perhaps it no longer includes pages which only redirect to another page?—Justin^(Talk) 21:39, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps the merges that have taken place have something to do with that, but that's not a bad thing. Quality trumps quantity in my book. If it means slightly decreasing the number of articles to merge small ones into larger, more substantial articles, I don't see anything wrong with it. We'll have a lot of new ones coming with Spirit Tracks too I'm sure. Link87 22:06, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm not exactly sure on the details, but all of the articles that pertain to the Community (for example, Zelda Dungeon, Zelda Universe, etc) aren't accounted for anymore when it comes to the total article count, which is better, since that way we have a more accurate count. ;p Dany36 03:12, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

We made an announcement on the Main Page :D But like Dany says alot of the websites had articles that really ought not have been a part of the count. Also ZW specific pages also are not a part of the count. This move was more like making our Article Count honest. I've actually had an idea in my head to write a help guide for HTML coding. I figure I'm going to go ahead and make one called Help:HTML and include everything I know from navboxes to definition lists. I could definitely include about how to make userboxes in there if you want to write that up. Image Delete Template

Would it be possible for someone to make a template that would say something along the lines of:
'It has been suggested that this image be deleted for the reason that...'

Then the reason would go after a | and using the template would place it in a catagory so those with the ability to delete images can do so much much easier.

So when you use it, it will look something like this:
{{DeleteImage|superseded|link to file}},
{{DeleteImage|quality}},

Actually, I have a better idea. What if I coded the regular deletion template so that when the name space is File, the user can put the reason for deletion and the link to the new file (if necessary)? Template:Imdel Variables were added so if you want to tag it as Superseded (or duplicated-df) just type: sup and add a file name, for other deletions a simple {{imdel|ur}} for instance will fill in the terms 'uploader request'. Character Titles in Article Names

Ok, skype is full of debate on using character titles such as Mayor _____, Minister _____, Chancellor ____. I'll point out that dropping this system will forever be inconsistent with the main girl...Princess Zelda we certainly need the word Princess in there and Zelda goes to a disambig page. I've seen several pages being moved to drop the title. So we need consistency....and some votes. Should we keep the Character titles in the article names?

1. # Oppose. I agree about the consistency. I had been told that it was the Wiki's policy earlier, and I spread on that info to others. I suppose that it's just now coming up because of the talk over "important" pages such as Princess Zelda. The way I see it is that people are given titles which are added to their names, and not names that are added to their titles. If you go to Wikipedia and look up President Obama, it redirects you to Barrack Obama. That's his name. Also, after Cole is defeated or Killed, do you think that he'll always be called Chancellor Cole? No, that's not his name. He would be referred to later on as "Cole", or "Demon Cole" or something like that. Titles come and go, names usually do not.

As for Zelda, I'd suggest naming her page "Zelda (Princess)". It wouldn't be consistent to keep it Princess Zelda, but it could slide due to the recognition. And in referrence to some of the points broght up... that's what redirects and disambig pages are for. it's better to do it the right way than the easy way. Also, the games sometimes do refer to people with titles without them. There are a few in the Oracle games, I believe. And Zelda is sometimes just called Zelda. The Zelda Wii page is protected to the Autoconfirmed User Level, that means only established editors can edit it. So you are just going to confuse him/her, Alter. Largest Bosses Ever

I've noticed that there are many bosses that are now considered to be 'some of the largest bosses Link has ever fought,' that is in the trivia section of all of said bosses. I think there should be a category listing of all these bosses. Secondly some of the bosses are not exactly that large such as Skeldritch, Eox and Dark Dragon, and should be removed. I never really liked that being included in the Trivia sections...but then again, I couldn't really care less about which bosses are the largest. Acount Help

I recently signed up for the zelda wiki and I am finding it different to what i thought it would be. I was going on it to read about the enemys and bosses etc. and was wanting more information. So I thought that if I became a member I would get more information and pictures as well as being able to edit pages. I am wanting to delete my acount and just go on the site to read about the games. How/can I delete my acount?

Your first thought was correct Jamieo. MediaWiki often only shows cached pages to anonymous viewers. So by logging in you update the cache yourself and can even purge the cache so that the most recent view is available next time you come around. User:Axiomist/sig 02:35, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

All pages on the wiki are cached. Caching is when the wiki takes the latest version of a page, at the time of the cache, and stores it for a quick recall, the software does this for every single page on the wiki. Each page actually has many versions. Each time one is changed, the past versions are still stored on the server. It is highly impractical to show live versions of pages to everyone, or even to all members. This is why the wiki uses caching. What you see when you look at a page is not current version, it is the most recent cached version of the page. There is an option to purge the wiki's cache for a specific page, which updates that pages cache to the most current version. Everyone shares this cache. Some time ago that was added as a button at the top of pages. Everyone, even anonymous users can use that. There is also an option in the user preferences that claims to turn off caching. Observations have proved this option does nothing. As even with it on there were issues with the cache just as always. This is where Axiomist got confused. So I hope I managed to clear things up. Hello. I'm from the Mario Wiki and I decided to check out this wiki. The first thing I noticed is that there's no articles for anything implied, like item, characters and places. Can't push crate at Telma's Bar after talkng to Louise for Wii

Hello,

I was hoping that you could provide help for the section right after the fight with the Morpheel Mini Boss where in wolf form Link is placed in Hyrule Field and dashes towards the south side of Castle Town where you head towards Telma's Bar and get promptly kicked out then talk to Louise. I have tried without success of pushing the crate up to the other crates and get through the window. I am stuck. Please HELP!!!!!!

Rito Page Typo

On the wiki about Ritos, there is a small spelling error in the first reference. I do not know how to fix it, and it is a quote that calls the Koroks from TWW "Korogs". It seems to be linked to a quote that somebody had on a message board: the actual text isn't up for altering. For future typos in reference sections (in particular), how would I fix them?

Seeing as it was the translation given for the quote, I'm assuming it isn't a typo but the literal translation of the Japanese word for Koroks. Biology (theories and in-game fact)

I read Smitie's article on Goron Biology on the main page recently and began to wonder if there was any interest in possibly adding biology sections to some of the races and enemies. Animals on scientific wikis have their biology sections stating how they reproduce, what they eat, approx. life span, etc. I do realize that a lot of this information is already there in another form, but there's always gaps to fill in, I'm just asking if these gaps are important enough for us to fill.

It would be interesting, however, there is not enough information concerning the biology of races in the Zelda universe that is actually given from the games. We only really know habitat, population/size, and behavior, all of which have already been included in some fashion to the articles in question (i.e. for the enemies, this all falls under characteristics). You can get them off of any site you like, provided you license them correctly. Also note that any site with images under the Creative Commons license may not be used, as we are under the GNU Free Document License, and the two licenses are not compatible. Definition of 'Race'

When defining the races of Hyrule, what requirements does a race candidate need to meet. I mean, do they need to be able to speak?
