- "Hmm... What a mysterious song... It sounds so...familiar. It's almost as if something I've forgotten is trying to be remembered..."
- — Medli
The "Earth God's Lyric" (地神の唄 Chijin no Uta?, Earth God's Song) is a song from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The "Earth God's Lyric", along with the "Wind God's Aria", are re-orchestrated to make the game's opening medley. It is a prayer to the gods to restore half of the Master Sword.
The actual pitches of the notes translate as follows: A, A, D, F#, E, D. Although the song in-game is conducted in 6/4, the version played by Medli and included in the game's opening medley is actually in 9/8.
The "Earth God's Lyric" is taught to Link by the Zora spirit, Laruto. Laruto was the Sage of Earth until a shadow monster, Jalhalla, who was summoned by Ganondorf, killed her and corrupted the inside of the Earth Temple. Her spirit remained there, anxiously awaiting the time for the new Earth Sage to be awakened. A Rito girl, Medli, is awakened as the new sage when Link plays the "Earth God's Lyric" for her on his Wind Waker. She plays the song on her harp to open the solid entrance of the Earth Temple on Headstone Island and to open several stone blockades inside the Earth Temple. After Link defeats Jalhalla, Medli remains within the Earth Temple to play the "Earth God's Lyric" in order to restore a portion of the Master Sword's power to repel evil.
Medli plays the tune on her Rito Harp during her victory cutscene and briefly plays it to create a Mark of Din on the ground as one of her combo attacks. The design of her Level 2 weapon, the Earth God's Harp, is based on the stone inscription of the Earth God's Lyric in The Wind Waker.
