"EX Champion Urbosa's Song" is a Main Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1] It is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack.
Overview[]
After finishing the trials of the Great Plateau during the "EX The Champions' Ballad" Main Quest, the One-Hit Obliterator will split into four glowing orbs and scatter to different areas of Hyrule, revealing four ancient structures called Monuments. One of the Monuments appears at East Gerudo Mesa, southeast of the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. As Link approaches the Monument, he will hear the voice of a Monk, who explains that each pillar displays a Map that reveals the location of a trial that must be undertaken in the Gerudo Region.[2]
Kass, who is nearby, will make a remark about either the flash of light or the Monument, depending on how many Monuments Link has already visited.[3][4][5][6] When he Link, he is at first confused why someone else would venture to such a high altitude.[7] Kass apologizes to Link for voicing his thoughts aloud, as he has become used to speaking to himself.[8] Kass notes that the Monument is the same one mentioned in the Unfinished Song of his teacher.[9][note 1] He is happy to be able to sing so close to Divine Beast Vah Naboris.[13]
Part of the Unfinished Song references the trials that Urbosa overcame.[14] He then proceeds to sing him the song, which provides instructions for completing all three trials.[15] After, Kass asks if Link was moved by his performace.[16][17] His research into legends about the Champions has allowed him a deeper understanding of who they were,[18] which will in turn help him with completing the key verses.[19] Kass feels as though the Champions are speaking to him through the song and asking for its completion.[20] He has been able to hear tales about Urbosa from Riju and Buliara,[21] though he had to leave his comfort zone in order to meet them.[22] Once he is done speaking, the Main Quest will begin.
Link can complete the trials in any order. By defeating the Molduking in the East Barrens, he will unlock Keive Tala Shrine. Sand Seal surfing through a series of Glowing Rings in the West Barrens will reveal Takama Shiri Shrine. Finally, retrieving an Sacred Orb from the Yiga Clan Hideout and throwing it into the pit outside will unearth Kihiro Moh Shrine.
Each of the Ancient Shrines reward Link with one of Naboris's Emblems.[23] The Monk of the Shrine will then inform Link that collecting all three Emblems will unlock a new challenge.[24] They will tell Link how many more trials he has to complete before fading away.[25][26] After completing all three shrines, the Monk of the final Shrine will instruct him to go to Divine Beast Vah Naboris.[27]
Once Link arrives, he will once again hear the voice of a Monk. The voice informs him that in exchange for Naboris's Emblems, he will be taken to the Illusory Realm, a world within his memories, to face a trial.[28] Without determination, Link will find this trial to be unforgiving.[29] The Monk also reminds him to take this world seriously, as its truth is deeper than it appears.[30]
Link will then find himself inside Naboris, where the Monk reiterate that this realm was made from his memories.[31] The Enemy that he will fight is a product of his own fear, which he must overcome during this trial.[32] With this, Thunderblight Ganon appears again.
Link's equipment and belongings will be temporarily changed to the following:
- Desert Voe Set (upgraded twice)
- The Scimitar of the Seven
- The Daybreaker
- Edge of Duality
- Shield of the Mind's Eye
- Voltfruit
- Zapshroom
- Raw Meat
After defeating the phantasm again, Link will return to the exterior of Divine Beast Vah Naboris. He finds Kass there,[33] who explains that hearing anecdotes about Urbosa has inspired him to write a song for her,[34] which brought him to the Divine Beast.[35] He then sings "Champion Urbosa's Song".[36] This allows Link to visualize the "Champion Urbosa's Song" Recovered Memory from 100 years ago.[36]
After the Memory ends, Kass notes that, while Urbosa was a fierce warrior, she was also a good friend to Princess Zelda.[37] He asks Link what he thought of the song,[38] which he explains allowed him to feel closer to his teacher.[39] Link will then hear the voice of Urbosa, who calls him an impressive voe and allows him wield Urbosa's Fury more often.[40] The skill will be upgraded to Urbosa's Fury +, which reduces its recharge time to four minutes. She leaces the duty of protecting Zelda to Link.[41] After receiving the upgrade, the Main Quest is completed.
