This Side Quest is one of four Quests needed to complete in order to help the people of Gerudo Town and receive the Thunder Helm from Riju in "The Thunder Helm" Side Quest. Link can begin this Quest by speaking to Liana, the Gerudo Soldier in the palace barracks in Gerudo Town. Liana mentions that one of the Gerudo Soldiers, Barta, has gone missing again and Link will be given the Quest. allows Link to shoot projectile beams. The beams are similar to a Wizzrobe's and travel across the screen. According to the game manual, it is the same wand that Wizzrobes use to attack. In the first quest, the Magical Rod is found in the Dragon labyrinth. In the Second Quest, it is found in the Lion labyrinth.

  +
Objectives
The Book of Magic can be found to increase the power of the Magical Rod. After obtaining it, the Magical Rod's attack leaves a fiery blaze, similarly to the Candle, when it makes contact with an enemy or wall. This also allows the Magical Rod to be used in lieu of the Candle to light up pitch dark rooms.

A Link to the Past
In ALttP, Link obtains the Fire Rod in the Skull Woods. It can be used as a weapon to burn enemies or light unreachable torches. The Fire Rod drains magic from the Magic Meter when used. It is especially effective against Gibdos, whose bandages can be burned away to reveal Stalfos.

Link's Awakening
In LA, the Magic Rod is used to expel blasts of magical energy in the form of fireballs. It is the main item of Turtle Rock. It is primarily used as a weapon and for lighting unreachable torches. The Magic Rod is vital to defeating the dungeon's boss, Hot Head. The Magic Rod is one of the most powerful weapons in Link's Awakening, doing twice as much damage as even the Seashell Sword.

There are some enemies the Magic Rod does less damage against, or cannot damage at all, such as Crows, Takkuris, and Stalfos. The Magic Rod is also notable as the only item other than the Magic Powder that can kill a Cucco and a Mutt.

Four Sword Adventures
In FSA, the Fire Rod can only be found in certain areas. It can be used to defeat enemies and burn grass to reveal hidden items such as Power Gems. This Fire Rod can either shoot fireballs or a continuous cascade of flames. If Link gives the Fire Rod to a Great Fairy to upgrade it, the Fire Rod will act like the Cane of Somaria, creating blocks that can be used as platforms. If Link uses the Fire Rod again, the block will explode, sending fire in four directions.

Dark Link also uses the Fire Rod in some levels.

A Link Between Worlds
In ALBW, the Fire Rod can be rented from Ravio for 100 Rupees. Later on, it can be purchased for 1200 Rupees. It drains the Energy Gauge when used. The Fire Rod shoots a pillar of fire that moves in a straight line, which is capable of damaging even airborne enemies. Because it travels forward and most enemies flinch backwards, the fire pillar is often capable of hitting the same enemy more than once. The Fire Rod can also be used to melt ice, including ice-based enemies, which can be defeated with one hit of the Rod.

By finding 10 Maiamais, Link can give the Fire Rod to Mother Maiamai in order to upgrade it to the Nice Fire Rod. This upgraded version produces a much taller and wider pilar of flames, travels a larger distance, and deals more damage.

Breath of the Wild
Weapons in Breath of the Wild

In BotW, Fire Rods are expendable weapons. When swung, they fire out large fireballs that bounce around wildly, setting fire to anything the balls touch. In areas with strong gusts of wind, these fireballs can be redirected by the wind's current.Verify By charging an attack, Link can launch a circular barrage of fireballs.

As Fire Rods are fragile, they will break if they directly hit a solid object. A Fire Rod can be found west of Hopper Pond, guarded inside a Bokoblin encampment.

The Meteor Rod is a stronger fire Rod that fires three fireballs in one swing.

In HW, the Magic Rod is a class of weapon used by Link. It is associated with Fire. It can shoot wide-ranged projectiles and conjure pillars of flames to juggle enemies. The Rod is also capable of changing shape, such as forming a flamethrower, transforming into a larger staff to emit flame-based energy beams, and transforming into a fiery battleaxe.

An 8-Bit version of the Magical Rod from The Legend of Zelda, called the 8-Bit Magical Rod, appears as the Lv.★ form of Lana's Spear. It was added to the game with the Twilight Princess Pack DLC in Hyrule Warriors.

Variations
The default Magic Rod is the Fire Rod. It resembles the Fire Rods of later game appearances like A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening.

The second form of the Magic Rod is the Prism Rod.

The third form of the Magic Rod is the Magical Rod. It more closely resembles the Magic Rod from The Legend of Zelda.

The Lv.★ form of the Magic Rod is the 8-Bit Candle, which is only available in Hyrule Warriors. Its appearance is based on the 8-bit Candle from The Legend of Zelda.

Template:Quest The Search for Barta is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.

Overview

This Side Quest is one of four Quests needed to complete in order to help the people of Gerudo Town and receive the Thunder Helm from Riju in "The Thunder Helm" Side Quest. Link can begin this Quest by speaking to Liana, the Gerudo Soldier in the palace barracks in Gerudo Town. Liana mentions that one of the Gerudo Soldiers, Barta, has gone missing again and Link will be given the Quest.[1] Link will find out tips about where Barta has gone from the nearby Gerudo soldiers.[citation needed] Link will find Barta on the brink of death, kneeling on the ground in Gerudo Desert near the Gerudo Great Skeleton.[2] Barta mutters about how she wishes she could have eaten a Hearty Durian one last time.[3] After Link gives her a Hearty Durian, Barta will stand up and thank Link for saving her life.[4] If Link has spoken to Barta before in the palace barracks, she will recognize him and mention that he seemed muscular for a Hylian woman.[5] Barta promises to keep it a secret, especially because Link saved her life.[6] Upon returning to the palace in Gerudo Town, Liana has heard that Link saved Barta.[7] Liana will thank her with 100 Rupees and the Quest will be complete.[8] After the Quest, Barta mentions that she should go look for her special someone after everyone forgets how much trouble she's in.[9]

Objectives

Stage Location Description
1 Gerudo Town Barta has disappeared again. She headed south in search of leviathan bones but never came back. Not only is the area home to Molduga, but it's also known for extreme heat. You'll need special gear, or you'll be in danger. Use your map to search for Barta.
2 Gerudo Town You found Barta collapsed in the desert.

She just keeps muttering, "A hearty durian, a hearty durian," over and over again, deliriously.

...Seems like she really wants to eat a hearty durian.
3 Gerudo Town You fed Barta a hearty durian after finding her collapsed in the desert.

She seemed much better, but once you told her of Liana's anger, she dashed off back to Gerudo Town. Just in case, you should let Liana know that Barta is OK.
Complete Gerudo Town Barta seems to have made it back to Gerudo Town in one piece.

But it sounds like Liana really chewed Barta out for making her worry. Maybe she'll lay low for a little while.
