Demon King may refer to either of the following characters who hold the title:
- Ganon, the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda series.
- Malladus, the primary antagonist and Final Boss of Spirit Tracks.
- Demise, the primary antagonist and Final Boss of Skyward Sword.
Although not a Demon King himself, Ghirahim adhered to a similar title called Demon Lord.
Nomenclature[]
The term Demon King (魔王, Maō) is derived from Japanese Buddhism and was a reference to Mara, a demonic ruler sitting atop the sixth realm of desire in Buddhist mythology.
Prior to Spirit Tracks, the term was generally translated into varying terms, such as Prince of Darkness in The Legend of Zelda, King of Darkness in A Link to the Past, Great King of Evil in Ocarina of Time, and Dark Lord in Twilight Princess.
