Dekadin plays a role in the Trading Quest. Link can tell Dekadin the Funny Joke in an attempt to make Dekadin laugh. As thanks, Dekadin will let Link take a book from his bookshelf.[2] This book happens to be the Touching Book, the next item in the Trading Quest.
