The Curiosity Shop Back Room is a location in Majora's Mask.[1]
Features and Overview
After Sakon steals the Sun's Mask from Kafei, Kafei takes up residence inside the Back Room of the Curiosity Shop. As he does not want to return to his fiancée in his condition without the Sun's Mask,[2] he decides to remain in the Back Room while watching for Sakon through a peephole in the wall connecting the Curiosity Shop and its Back Room.[3]
For most of Link's stay in Termina, the Curiosity Shop Back Room is inaccessible, with the only entrance being a door in the Laundry Pool, which Kafei keeps locked. If Link meets with Anju and delivers the Letter to Kafei to a Mailbox,[4] he can slip by Kafei and enter his residence as the Postman delivers the Letter to him in person. After Kafei reads the Letter, he will return to the Back Room, leaving it unlocked while waiting to meet with the green-clad child described in the Letter.[5] If Link agrees to keep his whereabouts hidden from Anju, Kafei will confide his story to Link before asking him to deliver the Pendant of Memories to Anju as an affirmative symbol of their relationship.[6][7]
If Link has not stopped Sakon from stealing the Bomb Bag from the Old Lady from Bomb Shop, Kafei will watch Sakon sell it to the Man from Curiosity Shop before following him to Sakon's Hideout in Ikana Canyon. Afterwards, the Man from Curiosity Shop can be found inside the Curiosity Shop Back Room waiting for Link. There, he informs Link about Kafei's departure and asks him to deliver the Special Delivery to Mama from Kafei to Madame Aroma on his behalf.[8][9][10] He will also give the Keaton Mask to Link after explaining that he once gave it to Kafei long ago and that Kafei used it to convince him of his peculiar neotenic condition.[11]
