PNG vs jpg
I was wondering about when jpg is preferred over png? In this particular case, it feels like since the original file was jpg and there are no intentions to modify the file, then the original would be preferred, partially also for archival reasons(?). A side effect is that when converting to png, the file side increases a lot, and for a large image like this it is ~2MB, compared to the original, which is about 300KB(?), which might be a bit unfriendly to those wishing to view the full image while on a slow or limited connection. (I believe the thumbnails etc. are generated by the wiki and are not really affected by the source format?)
The current rule is png is preferred when possible? But exceptions include when?
