Located within Dragon Roost Island, is the Dragon Roost Cavern, home to the Sky Spirit Valoo. When Link first comes to the island, Valoo is in a very cranky mood, yet the Rito who live there do not know why. Unless they can solve the problem, Valoo will not let anyone near to receive his scales, which allow the Rito to fly.
βˆ’
ReDeads are zombie-like creatures with fleshy yet skeletal bodies. Their faces may be Spooky Masks. Their gaze paralyzes even the bravest warrior with fear. They can also emit a piercing shriek to stun you if your back is turned.

  +
Link first learns of the cavern from Medli, a Rito and the Great Valoo's attendant. She wishes to visit Valoo and find out why he is upset. With Link's help, she reaches the cavern, and give Link a bottle, which, with a little ingenuity, allows him access to the cavern as well. (The entrance to the cavern is usually blocked by a moat. A rock, from the disturbance caused by Valoo, blocked the hole that caused the moat. So Link watered a bomb flower and blew up the rock.)
βˆ’
When they get close enough, they scream at Link and paralyze him. Then they slowly walk over and attack him.

  +
While inside, Link has to rescue Medli, who ends up captured by Moblins. Upon her release, Link receives the Grappling Hook, which is what the Rito used to use before they had wings.
βˆ’
Fortunately, the paralysis they instill is only temporary and can only be executed if they are facing Link. The creatures are quite slow, both in walking and recovering from an attack, making them fairly easy to slay. As an added bonus, if a ReDead is slain, any other ReDeads in the vicinity, will gather around the fallen ReDead until it fades away, ignoring Link and making killing the whole group easier. It is unknown what the "living" ReDeads are doing to the dead one; they may be mourning its death or eating it. Upon gathering around the slain ReDead, there is no further animation, making their intention unclear.

Link found a giant spider called Gohma in the room below Valoo. It was this spider that was causing Valoo to be upset, as she was agitating his tail. Using the Grappling Hook and the weight of Valoo, Link defeated Gohma and restored peace to the island. He then received the Din's Pearl from Prince Komali as a reward for scaling the cavern.
βˆ’
There are many ways to destroy these creatures: attack them from behind, freeze them by shining light on them, wear the Captain's Hat, Gibdo Mask, or Garo's Mask in Majora's Mask to make them dance and ignore Link entirely, or stun them by playing the Sun's Song. These enemies are found in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, as well as The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess.

  +
It is highly debated whether or not Dragon Roost Island is actually the tip of Death Mountain from Ocarina of Time, as the hole that Valoo sits on originally has a ring of smoke around it. The fact that Valoo is a dragon is also interesting, as the former inhabitant of Death Mountain was Volvagia, who the Hero of Time defeated.
βˆ’
Many people argue that these creatures are the scariest enemies in the The Legend of Zelda series.

  +
Players sometimes express this as Wind Wakers turning point towards being to easy, as it features a reoccouring amount of torch scenarios making the experence more than just repetative, which is uncommon in a Zelda game.
βˆ’
They are related to Gibdos.

  +
It is worth noting that a chest found just before the player enters the lair of Dragon Roost Cavern's boss contains a Knight's Crest.

ReDeads also appear in The Wind Waker as turquoise tribal-like zombies. This time, they're even more skeletal, their torso consisting of their bony ribs and spine with no flesh or organs in between their bones and skin. The same applies to their hips as well. Another alteration from the first generation of ReDead are their ears, which bear large golden hoop earrings. Their bodies are covered in white tribal markings, their eyes are black and lifeless and glow red when they unleash their paralyzing screech. Also, their mouth is no longer a black circle, but rather a full set of teeth and gums. Since they do not have masks, as in previous games, they were given their scary facial features.

βˆ’
βˆ’
Their method of attack is the same as usual, the main difference being that they only deal 1 heart of damage before they release Link, only to try to attack him again.

βˆ’
βˆ’
They are immune to most weapons, so they must be shot with an arrow or slashed. Using the Hookshot is unwise bcause it brings Link straight into the grasp of the ReDead. The Mirror Shield can be used to stun them if there is light nearby. They also boast high defense, and a high drop rate of valuable items, but they are still slow, and one can use the same strategy as the previous games to easily finish them off.

βˆ’
βˆ’
They have the same shriek and stare as before. Seeing them scream is arguably more frightening than the scream itself. They are usually found in the Earth Temple and underneath the private cabana.

βˆ’
They are also seen in The Ghost Ship and Ganondorf's Castle.

In Twilight Princess, ReDeads return as ReDead Knights. They are demonic warrior monsters found in the Arbiter's Grounds and the Cave of Ordeals. They can be killed by two bomb arrows or with a jump strike. At first, they are lying down, and they are invincible. Then, when they stand up, they are vulnerable. they have a paralyzing scream, like in most games, which leaves you open for attack. There is a way to avoid them that not many know about. After you gain the Hidden Skill #3, the Back slice, rapidly press the A button, and turn the analog stick in the direction you want to go. Then, as they bring down their sword, you will evade the attack and slice them. That leaves them vulnerable to attack. This technique can be dangerous if there are several Redeads grouped together. Another useful method is by using your ball and chain, keep your distance and throw, you ussually don't take any damage. They can also be killed in your wolf form by L-targeting and pressing A towards it and rapidly biting it twice . They have tattered red cloaks, that makes them look intimidating. They are mummified, and their face is small and round. plus as they rise from the ground they apear to be fully mumified.

The fact that Valoo is a dragon is also interesting, as the former inhabitant of Death Mountain was Volvagia, who the Hero of Time defeated.

Players sometimes express this as Wind Wakers turning point towards being to easy, as it features a reoccouring amount of torch scenarios making the experence more than just repetative, which is uncommon in a Zelda game.

It is worth noting that a chest found just before the player enters the lair of Dragon Roost Cavern's boss contains a Knight's Crest.
