"This is my bug-catching net. I'll use it when I'm better, but for now, I'll lend it to you."
— Bug-Catching Kid

The Bug-Catching Kid is a character from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. He is a small child residing in Kakariko Village whose hobbies include catching bugs with his Bug-Catching Net.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

When Link enters the house of the Bug-Catching Kid, he finds the child in bed with a cold caused by "the evil air" emanating from Death Mountain, unable to go outside and catch bugs. He asks Link to return once he has an empty bottle. Link does so, and the child lends Link his Bug-Catching Net and instructs him in its fields of usage.

In the end credits, the Bug-Catching Kid's illness is gone, and he is shown happily catching bugs in the center square of Kakariko Village while other villagers look on. Due to the fact that the child is cured after the defeat of Ganon, it may be that the sickness was somehow induced by the evil deeds of Agahnim.

The Bug-Catching Kid's name has a double meaning - he catches bugs with his net, but is also sick for the whole game after having 'caught a bug' coming down off of Death Mountain.
