Her profile says that she's human, but is that correct? Are there humans in LoZ? It seems as though she would be a Hyrulian (not Hylian, mind you). Am I wrong? 05:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

*1- After spotting the loach, pay to get a fishing rod and go back to the pond. Wait until the loach is on the area under the lily pads, then throw the bait in front of it (clear the area of other fish if necessary), reel the bait at a moderate speed so that the loach notices it, then get ready for the fishing of your life, as it usually takes 3-4 minutes to catch the loach.
::Well, I agree with Makar Rocks. It's helpful to have a distinction between the human and nonhuman Hyrulians. By the way Makar, you've been doing great work with all of the categorizations lately. 07:53, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

*2- Find the Sinking Lure, locate the loach, wait until night fall (since the loach notices the lure mostly at night thus making the odds better for you) then throw the lure so it falls on front of the fish. Wiggle it a little, and when he bites, just reel it in.
:::Yes, you have been doing a good job. I understand that, but that's more of a Lord of the Rings idea than Zelda. As I previously said, LoZ has never made a mention of humans. But Maple also appears in ALttP (Hyrule), not just Holodrum. Besides, Holodrum is in Hyrule (world), not another dimension, although many people believe that.

::First of all, I did indeed, read what you said. Very carefully too. What Makar Rocks has aleady pointed out is logic. Pointed ears are a known trait of the Hylian race. Maple does not possess pointed ears. Therefore, this puts her into the category of: Human. Now, any human that is a resident of Hyrule is usually referred to as, Hyrulean. Maple is not a resident of Hyrule. Therefore I don't believe it would be proper to categorize her as such. 18:56, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
P.S. Holodrum is not a part of Hyule. :::Ok, thanks for reading it. :D

:::But she appears to live in Hyrule in ALttP. Also, Princess Zelda visits Holodrum, coming from the country of Hyrule. The OoS manga, although non-canon, states that Holodrum is nearby Hyrule (in the same world, not the same country). It is my understanding that those who live in the world of Hyrule are "Hyrulians" (Not Hylians)). The issue that humans are never mentioned in Zelda does raise a red flag, however. I'd like to think that Zelda is a little more original than something such as warcraft, that simply copied Tolkien's (Lord of the Rings author) ideas of humans, elves (Hylians), and dwarfs (gorons). Yes, I know that this is a bit of a stretch, but you can take my word for it, as I have done quite a bit of study on how the ideas of creatures such as elves, dwarfs, etc evolved.

:::I guess I'm taking this a little out of range. Now I'm discussing the whole race system here. Anyway, she does live in the world of Hyrule, and appears to live in the country. I think that means she's a Hyrulian. Sorry if I went off on a tangent there. lol 20:40, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

She is not in ALttP. They just reused her sprite in the rerelease of ALttP for the GBA. That's not Maple. character sprites and models have been reused before for completely different characters. That does not make them the same character. Think the Chicken Lady from OoT, and Anju from MM. They are completely different characters. So Maple is not in Hyrule at all. I'm fairly certain that even in the GBA remake that character is called the "Witch's Apprentice". 20:53, May 7, 2009 (UTC)

:Alright. Well, you can do whatever, but I'm still going to stick with the fact that Holodrum is in the world of Hyrule. Another reason for this would be that Impa states (in a linked game) that she is visiting from the country of Hyrule, and is Zelda caretaker, thus indicating that it is still the world. That is just my take on it.

:I guess the real question is: If you live in the world of Hyrule, are you a Hyrulian? I would think so, since we are all earthlings. ; ) lol So what do you think? 21:22, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

::The world is not called Hyrule. It doesn't have a name, but we know it is not Hyrule.

::So, no, she is not in any Hyrule. 21:59, May 7, 2009 (UTC)

:::Ok, I'll just let it go. The "world of Hyrule" has actually been mentioned by Nintendo, although I can't remember the source. I'll just drop it until I come across it again.

P.S. I believe that ZU had that posted about a year or two back, and it surprised me to find that out. 22:56, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Wow! Didn't expect so much debate here. Even if the name "Humans" for non-Hylians is fanon, there has to be some distinction between the two races because there's such an obvious physical difference (Rusl vs. Chudley, for instance). I also think that Hyrule is a kingdom in an unnamed world, so a resident of Labrynna or Holodrum could not be called a Hyrulean. And thanks for the compliment, Axiomist! --Makar Rocks 00:02, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Finding the loach

The loach appears purely by random at the fishing pond near Lake Hylia. The best way to find it it's by equipping the Zora Tunic and the Iron Boots, and then entering the water and scanning the sand floor and the area around the lily pads. If you don't find it the first time just exit the area, enter again, and repeat the process. Keep doing this until you find it, this may take around 10-15 tries sometimes.

Fishing the loach

These are the easiest ways to catch the loach:

 • 1- After spotting the loach, pay to get a fishing rod and go back to the pond. Wait until the loach is on the area under the lily pads, then throw the bait in front of it (clear the area of other fish if necessary), reel the bait at a moderate speed so that the loach notices it, then get ready for the fishing of your life, as it usually takes 3-4 minutes to catch the loach.
 • 2- Find the Sinking Lure, locate the loach, wait until night fall (since the loach notices the lure mostly at night thus making the odds better for you) then throw the lure so it falls on front of the fish. Wiggle it a little, and when he bites, just reel it in.

The prize

When you take the fish to the pond's owner he will tell you that the fish population's number has decreased and that he will release it, then he gives you fifty Rupees. The only real prize behind catching this fish is the satisfaction of catching a legendary fish and knowing that you had done everything possible in the game.
