Battle Talus are Sub-Bosses in Tears of the Kingdom.

Design[]

Battle Taluses vary in design mainly on the headpiece. The design of the base on top varies based on the presumable needs of the Bokoblins stationed on it. Overall though, a Battle Talus looks like a Stone Talus, but with a Bokoblin base worn like a hat on it’s head.

Gameplay[]

Battle Taluses come in two forms. Ones that act like Stone Talus, hiding underground unless approached, and ones that patrol certain roads. When fighting Battle Talus, there are essentially two phases to take care of. The Bokoblins on top, and the Talus itself. Bokoblins on Battle Taluses fall into two categories. Ranged units, armed with bows or thrown objects, and defenders, armed with Korok Frond-equipped weapons to push Link off, should he get on. Due to this, taking out the Bokoblins atop the Talus is a key first step. After the Bokoblins are taken down, the Talus will lean its head down to signify its changed to the normal Talus fighting style. Regardless of the phase, the key goal is to get atop the Talus, either through use of explosives or the Talus’s own rocks to knock it down. A key thing to note is that Battle Taluses fall on their knees rather than their faces, likely due to the base hat rendering faceplanting impossible. Instead of climbing the Talus, you must use Ascend to get on the base. Once you accomplish that, you can destroy the Battle Talus like a normal Talus.
