Anubis are enemies from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. They are undead creatures that have a mimicking nature and, unlike most enemies, do not attack Link directly, but rather will only harm him if Link is to strike first. They cannot be killed with a sword, however, as hitting them with a blade results in them torching Link. The only way to kill them is with fire, which can be done leading them into flame-filled obstacles, or by using Fire Arrows or Din's Fire. They appear only in the Spirit Temple.

Interestingly enough, an Anubis will occasionally split into two new Anubis when Link throws a bomb at it.

Etymology

Anubis are presumably named after the jackal-headed god, Anubis, from Egyptian mythology.
