Ancient Orbs,[1] also known as Precious Orbs,[2] are Objects in Breath of the Wild.
Location and Uses[]
Ancient Orbs are spherical pieces of Ancient Technology constructed by the Sheikah 10,000 years ago. They come in two sizes. The first size is smaller, and Link is capable of moving them by picking them up. In addition, they come in a larger size which can be pushed, but usually must be moved by alternative means. Placing Ancient Orbs inside Concave Slots will activate Ancient Technology, such as revealing Ancient Shrines or opening doors.
Several Ancient Orbs are given specific names. These Orbs are involved in Shrine Quests throughout the overworld of Hyrule Kingdom. They are as follows:
- The Grand Trophy is used in "The Undefeated Champ" Shrine Quest.
- The Sacred Orb is used in the "EX Champion Urbosa's Song" Main Quest, which is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack.
- The Sheikah Heirloom is used in "The Stolen Heirloom" Shrine Quest.
- Roscoe is used in the "Guardian Slideshow" Shrine Quest.
In addition, there are unnamed Ancient Orbs that are also involved in Shrine Quests.
- During the "Into the Vortex" Shrine Quest, Link must bring an Ancient Orb from the base of Rist Peninsula all the way to its tip, where there is a Concave Slot.[3] When this is done, Ritaag Zumo Shrine will emerge from the ground.
- During the "Stranded on Eventide" Shrine Quest, Link must retrieve three Ancient Orbs throughout Eventide Island and place them in Concave Slots.[4] This will cause Korgu Chideh Shrine to emerge from the top of Koholit Rock.[5]
- During "The Three Giant Brothers" Shrine Quest, Link must collect three Ancient Orbs from three sleeping Hinox on Mount Taran.[1] They are located in Hanu Pond, Uten Marsh, and the Rabella Wetlands. Once all of these Ancient Orbs are placed in Concave Slots, Tawa Jinn Shrine will emerge from the ground.[6]
