Multiple consecutive edits on the same page

I noticed that you edited the Horsehead and Helmethead pages three times each consecutively. When you next edit an article, use the preview button so you can see the changes you made before saving them. This way, you can make the necessary corrections and then save the page. Thanks in advance! --User:K2L/sig 18:40, 8 September 2011 (EDT)

I keep spotting very minor textual errors that I miss when I do previews but notice afterwards, even using the preview. I have been using it, I just miss things anyway, small things for consistency. Sorry about that, I'll try not to make those mistakes so often. I'd rather not leave them there when I do spot them, thats all. Fizzle 20:30, 8 September 2011 (EDT)
OK, keep up with the good work! --User:K2L/sig 20:40, 8 September 2011 (EDT)

FSA Maiden Sprites

Hey there. I noticed you've recently uploaded new versions of the FSA maiden sprites, since you seem to think the ones we had were incorrect. However, this would prove that there's nothing wrong with the ones we had. Some of us are curious as to where you got those new sprites. We know you wouldn't upload them unless you really did think they were the correct ones, so that's why we're asking. :) — Hylian King [*] 20:21, 10 October 2011 (EDT)

Ripped 'em directly from the game, I even have all the sheets and you can see how I put them together. I'm not sure WHY, but for some reason those other sprites look very unusual. Possibly because they are using magic? Here's a different screenshot, take a look. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9898/g4se011.png
I'm not sure why the old sprites looked so... odd. They don't really match up to the sprite sheet I have from the game. I don't think their eyes were meant to be open when in that pose, plus the sprite filter makes them warped. That or the screenshot is just off somehow... could it be beta? There's a lot of beta shots from FSA. Anyway, if anyone is interested, I can even make animated sprites of all the maidens, doing their "prayer" animation. It wouldn't be too hard actually, the dump I have like has all the frames conveniently, and its a nice looking animation. Anyway, I have more FSA sprites on the way, need to do Zelda too, and I'm being pretty meticulous about putting them together (it takes awhile with some of them). Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt first though.
Aha! Hold the phone, I believe I found out why they look different. It IS beta. Or maybe the Japanese version? Probably beta. I'm not sure if this link will work, but go check IGN's FSA page for old screenshots and you'll find this. http://cubemedia.ign.com/cube/image/zeldafourswordsjp_012604_012604_011.jpg and compare it with the actual game, they look entirely different. Very unusual. I could replace the main image of all six of them with a screenshot from the final game later, if needed. Fizzle 20:50, 10 October 2011 (EDT)
Could you get better quality sprites from the game? The ones we have right now look kind of strange and though as if they were JPGs. Also, they don't seem to be at their original size or something, as if someone made them bigger than they should be. That's strange about it being beta though, since most if not all sprites I found seem to have them as the old ones we used to have. And spriter's resource has all the sprites BUT the maiden ones... strange... Anyway, thanks!!! Dany36 21:04, 10 October 2011 (EDT)
I did make them bigger, because otherwise they look damn small on modern monitors and you can't make anything out at all (certainly not on mine, I have to squint to see the blasted things at their original size), but they're not JPGs, there's no artifacting at all, I'm not sure what you're seeing there. Try Ctrl+F5 maybe? I figured I would upload largeish sprites for static images, and do smaller animated gifs at their native size, and people can use them for different purposes. What is the wiki policy on sprite sizes, anyway? Native sizes look miniscule, and look really blurry when upscaled by the wiki, so I tend to prefer x2 sizes for visual clarity. Sprites aren't meant to be viewed at native res on modern monitors. Heck, sprites aren't meant to be viewed on digital screens, really, but thats a whooole other issue. Also, I'm curious about those beta ones now, I assume someone created them from old beta screenshots of the maidens, but maybe they look like that in the Japanese game. I'll research that tomorrow. Your Welcome

I'm glad I could get a good transparency to the images you uploaded. :) I wouldn't mind doing more of those images, and if you want, I can tell you how I did them. I sign on randomly, I'll to be a little more consistent. Silver12heart 22:00, 10 September 2011 (AST)

Moving pages

Hey there, Fizzle.

Just wanted to point out that you tend to leave behind a lot of redirect links when you move pages. It's important to update these links as Zelda Wiki has a policy against inline redirects (links to redirects inside an article). You can see the entire list of links to any page by clicking the "What links here" link in the Toolbox dropdown on the left-hand side. For example, here you would find all the links to Cyclops Fish that should now link to Ku instead. If you see a really long list, don't be disheartened. Most of the links usually come from templates and can be taken care of with one single edit to respective template page.

So now you know! — Hylian King [*] 14:30, 22 October 2011 (EDT)

Ah, I was doing it by searching for pages containing the words. I was dealing with some of them, but I am not sure I got all of them, no. To be honest I could do with some help though, all these pages are a lot of work. Fizzle 07:40, 23 October 2011 (EDT)
Oh, no problem! I'll do what I can.
Also, would you happen to have the Treasure Chests of FSA on your sprite sheet? The page is in need of them. :) — Hylian King [*] 11:36, 23 October 2011 (EDT)
I can rip virtually every sprite from the game, it can take a fair bit of work depending on the one though. That should be easy though so I'll try to do it sometime. Fizzle 18:58, 23 October 2011 (EDT)

Mega Explanation

Since I don’t know what PS version you have, I’ll give reasons behind what I do. In case you don’t have the tool, or the tools functions different. I don’t know your skills or knowledge of the program either, so please don’t be offended with the detail I go into. And I’m not sure what tools your using, so I don’t want to tell you I’m just using the same tools you are if I’m using them way differently. Also, with the images you have been uploading, the work I’ve been doing on them is very dependent on the image. (I put the most manual work into these images then any other images I’ve worked on yet!) They’re small, and almost every pixel counts. I’m working on the BlueParutamuNP.png as I type this, so I don’t miss anything, and you can look at it afterwards.

This is the longest, and most annoying thing I do with these images. Since there small, and I’m cutting them out better then they were placed in the books (note: white edging around sword blade when background there is red), I use the Polygonal Lasso Tool. I have Feather: 0 px, Anti-alias clicked. Start outline the image you want with this tool, click more around edges. You can always close the selection, and then Add to Select after. (shortcut “shift” on a Mac, or button at the top with tool settings) Don’t be afraid to use Subtract from Selection as well, definitely where there are “holes”. (bottom of his ribs) You can also Reselect if you happened to un-select everything (Under Select Menu). Don’t frustrate yourself with this, you don’t have to be %100 on the dot with this step, trust me.

While in the Polygonal Lasso Tool, click the Refine Edge button. This window is great, but completely depends on what you selected. I highly suggest moving all the adjustments to see how it looks, and see what works best. I keep Radius 0.0 px, Feather 0.0 px, In Output, put Output To Layer Mask. If you don’t have Refine Edge, with your selection made, click the Add a Mask down under the Layers (bottom right).

Masks = Awesome. I suggest a New Layer underneath your image, and put it to the background of the site. (Screenshot the site and grab the colour if needed) this will show problems, mistakes, and where you need to touch up. Some areas that looked like good lines are sometimes better to remove. You can delete the mask, Reselect, try some different adjustments with the Refine Edge option. Or select the small parts that are now easier to see and edit the mask manually. Before manually editing the Mask, select the Image Layer, and go to Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen. I used Basic with Amount: 36%, Radius: 2.3px, Remove: Gaussian Blur. You need to click on the Mask that is attached to you Layer to change it. I use the Polygonal Lasso Tool still to change the edges of the masks. (Select edges, use black/white with the Brush Tool to show/hide places needed) After, you can Add a Layer Style (under the layers, bottom right), and Stroke. I used Size 1px, Position: Outside, Blend Mode: Normal, Opacity 40%, Fill Type: Colour, Colour: Black.

Extra Tip: Select area around image (Wand Tool), Select > Inverse Selection, Select > Modify > Expand 10 pixels, Image > Crop. There is no need to have unnecessary space. Image > Canvas Size, and make it bigger if some areas were to close the the sides to do it properly.

Sorry this was so long, and I really hope it helps. Silver12heart 14:44, 23 September 2011 (AST)

My Response

Just letting you know that I responded to your message on my talk page. I wasn't sure if you saw it or not, so I thought I'd let you know just in case. — Hylian King [*] 20:58, 7 November 2011 (EST)

Moving Babusu

Here's what I did when I ran into a similar problem. Type in Babusu in the search bar, and when Babasu pops up click on the (Redirected from Babusu) link. From there edit the Redirect page and remove the redirect to babasu part and you should be able to move the page. Had to do something similar with Hectan myself. --Heroofstuff 07:36, 9 November 2011 (EST)

Unfortunately, I attempted this and it didn't work for some reason. Not sure why. I think an admin might need to jump in. Fizzle 07:49, 9 November 2011 (EST)
Hmm........your right. I tried myself and nada. Hmm....well sorry about the lousy tip then. :P --Heroofstuff 07:53, 9 November 2011 (EST)
Ha, no problem, it seems to vary sometimes, I think its something to do with the Talk pages. Pakkun has fixed it for now. Fizzle 08:35, 9 November 2011 (EST)
It may still be a job for an admin, however, as the history data didn't carry over. - TonyT S C 08:44, 9 November 2011 (EST)

Autopatrol

I made you an autopatrol because your edits are consistently of high quality and there's no point in us having to patrol them all. Thanks for being a great contributor! --Xizor 15:19, 9 November 2011 (EST)

Oh, thanks! Ha, now I'm going to be more concerned about spelling mistakes though, it was nice having people spot them for me, haha. Thanks a lot though, I appreciate it! Fizzle 15:21, 9 November 2011 (EST)

HEY! LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE!!!

Gotcha! Bet you that got your attention! :P

Just a friendly reminder: when you upload new images that supersede existing ones, as you are currently doing with a lot of the ALTTP sprites (great work, by the way!), you should be marking the outdated images for deletion using the Imdel template, like so. Doing so automatically adds it to the Images for deletion category, which an admin will occasionally sweep through. — Hylian King [*] 04:37, 12 November 2011 (EST)

Ah, thanks! I have been unsure about doing that just in case people really want to keep the old ones, but I'll keep that in mind, thank you! And... that did scare me for a bit. Harsh harsh! Fizzle 09:39, 12 November 2011 (EST)

User page.

Hey I have been wanting to say this for a while... but I was scared I would sound like a know-it-all brother if I said this.(Get it xP) or a jerk... I tend to give that impression to people. Along with people thinking I have bloated head. But anyway. I would advise you to add a user page. My obsessive nature wants me to edit your page so it isn't red anymore... Actually I find having information for users make them more.... comfortable... This may be something I perceived and it actually doesn't happen but who knows? Oh and awesome work xP I am jealous of your ability to fuse this wiki with pure awesomness. Steahl 09:42, 12 November 2011 (EST)

Really? I didn't think I was doing that much, I'm just an ALttP and bestiary nut and figured they could do with some improvement! So thats been my focus really... Aha, about my page, I kinda got to the point where I almost didn't want to edit my page because I figured it would be more dull that way. I'm almost attached to the red name now! But I was thinking I should do something with it anyway soon. If I have the time I'll add something to it. Thanks for the kind words about my editing! I have pretty much played each game in the series way too much, and I wanted to focus on the enemy pages because I often see people get the names wrong. Might as well use this stupid amount of otherwise pointless game trivia in my head constructively while I wait for Skyward Sword, I figure. Fizzle 09:53, 12 November 2011 (EST)
You can keep your name red by editing the signature. But it wont show on recent changes xP. Unlike you I have only played a handful of Zelda games. Basicly the only thing I do is correct certain phrases, point to information I have found on the internet. Like Iwata Ask's(Quite interesting if I say so myself) or Zelda.com(No matter how inacurate it is). I am currently awaiting Skyward Sword. Which I preordered. For a small price of 69.99$... Cheaper than Fable III: Limited Collectors Edition(Had to spent around 100$ I have been broke ever since *-_-) Anyway I await the day that I can get a good capture card and well capture stuff from the game itself.

I am very excited to see what you will add to your user page :). Steahl 10:04, 12 November 2011 (EST)

I will work on it soon when I get time, the wiki is a bit slow today so I'll probably leave it until a little later. Not sure what to do really, hm... I'll think of something. By the way, I really recommend playing the old Zelda games if you have not. I personally would consider the first four games to be "recommended playing" for any Zelda fan, particularly A Link to the Past (which pretty much defined almost the entire series onwards) and Link's Awakening. I also happen to prefer the 2D games in general due to their pick-up-and-play nature, but Skyward Sword looks like it plays a bit closer to them, with the ability to dash and the beams from the sword, so I'm pretty excited for that. One more week... Fizzle 16:11, 12 November 2011 (EST)
I already played and beat a Link to The Past. I can't even get past the second dungeon on the original Legend of Zelda, Link's Adventure.... I can't even play for a few minutes without dying... So yeah. I like both of them..(2D and 3D, from what I played in 2D anyway) They both have strengths and weakenesses. I thought that I was imagining that the website has been slow.... I have been getting a few error messages. Steahl 16:29, 12 November 2011 (EST)

FSA Force Gem Sprites

Hello, Fizzle! I have a request for you. I noticed that you have (or had) been uploading sprites from FSA, and I was wondering if you could upload the sprites for each Force Gem that appears in the game? That way our Force Gem page won't look so empty of images. Thanks! :) Dany36 10:57, 13 November 2011 (EST)

I'll give it a go soon, I'm trying not to overdo it though else I'll burn out before Skyward Sword is even out. They should be easy to get though! I still need to grab the actual Zelda sprite from the game too. Fizzle 12:37, 13 November 2011 (EST)
Yo! I sort of left by the time you uploaded the sprites, and I never really thanked you for it, so...just dropping in to say, thanks!! The page looks better now. :) Dany36 15:50, 26 December 2011 (EST)
No problem! I've been largely inactive due to holidays and Skyward Swordage. I still have the large one to add, plus I think I have some official art of just the gems lying around here somewhere... Fizzle 08:38, 31 December 2011 (EST)
