No calamity did, when the calamity got fried, the guardians likely lost their control towards the calamity. Then Demon king prob didnt want the same thing happening, so he just destroyed them instead, including the shrines... divine beasts so link couldnt get anymore powerful, but he cant take over shrines of light because they are being protected by raaru's light powers
