Star Fragments,(ST | TFH | BotW | HWAoC)[1][2][3] also known as Treasures of the Falling Star,(BotW)[4] are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.

Location and Uses[]

Spirit Tracks[]

Star Fragments are a common of Treasure. They can be found inside Jars, Treasure Chests, or under piles of leaves. They can also be bought from shops or won from a Prize Postcard.

Link can sell Star Fragments for 50 Rupees each, or trade them with Linebeck III in exchange for Train Cars.[1] They are included in the cost of the Wooden Engine, the Skull Passenger Car and the Quaint Passenger Car.

Tri Force Heroes[]

Star Fragments are rare Materials awarded for completing the following Levels and Drablands Challenges of the Volcano:

  • Den of Flames, "Clear within the time limit!": one Star Fragment
  • Fire Temple, "Evade the Wallmaster!": one Star Fragment
  • Fire Temple, "Only Bombs-no swords!": one Star Fragment

They can also be won in the Coliseum and Daily Riches, or purchased from the Street Merchant for 1,000 Rupees each.

Star Fragments are one of the Materials used to make the Queen of Hearts.[1]

Breath of the Wild[]

Star Fragments fall from the sky during the night and disappear at 5:00 AM the following day. They will also disappear instantly if they land in any body of water.[citation needed] When used in a Cooking Pot, Star Fragments will guarantee bonus effects from the meal being made. Alternatively, they can be used at the Kochi Dye Shop to make White Dye. Star Fragments can also be occasionally found in certain Treasure Chests such as the metal chest located on the cliffs of Tal Tal Peak overlooking Spool Bight of the Lanayru Sea. Lynels may drop them on extremely rare occasions. Link can also receive one for completing the Side Quest "My Hero" which can be completed as soon as Link acquires the Master Sword.

Star Fragments are used in several armor upgrades at Great Fairy Fountains. For each piece of the Ancient Set, one Star Fragment and two Giant Ancient Cores are needed to upgrade it to its fourth tier. The pieces of the Hero Set, Hero of the Sky Set, Hero of Twilight Set, Hero of Time Set, and Hero of Winds Set all require a Star Fragment and various minerals at each tier. The pieces of the Hero of the Wild Set each need one Star Fragment, in addition to either two Shards of Farosh's Horn, two Shards of Naydra's Horn, or two Shards of Dinraal's Horn to upgrade to its final tier. One is also needed to upgrade a Diamond Circlet, a Ruby Circlet, a Sapphire Circlet, and Topaz Earrings to their third and fourth tiers. The Vah Ruta Divine Helm, Vah Rudania Divine Helm, Vah Medoh Divine Helm, and Vah Naboris Divine Helm all require a Star Fragment to be upgraded to their fourth tiers. Sheik's Mask requires star fragments at each tier to be upgraded.

Treasures of the Falling Star! The stars spread out in the sky like a tapestry, and across that expanse, you see one streak of light—a shooting star! And I've heard that there is treasure waiting where these stars have landed. The next time you see one, why not track it down to see where it lands?
