Kanny is a character in Breath of the Wild.[2]
Biography[]
Kanny is a Hylian Merchant who travels on Horseback. He follows a portion of the Hilltop High Road between Serenne Stable and Snowfield Stable, at which point he continues on to Rito Stable. He wears a Snowquill Tunic and Snowquill Trousers, and he carries an Emblazoned Shield and a Traveler's Sword.
On his way to Rito Stable, Kanny will invite Link to accompany him.[3] Once there, he plans on selling off the last of his stock.[4][5][6] He also demonstrates a familiarity with Serenne Stable, referring to it as his stomping grounds and explaining it is where he finds the best Mushrooms.[7][8] Some of his Mushrooms are also sourced from Snowfield Stable.[9]
While Kanny is appreciates the Snow, he dislikes the cold.[10] Even though the road between Rito Stable and Snowfield Stable is cold, Kanny relies on it to keep his products fresh.[11][12] After he crosses into the Tabantha Tundra, he remarks that the wind that comes from the Hebra Mountains is cold enough to freeze him to his Horse.[13][14]
Kanny also harbors a dislike for the Weather when it is Snowing, as he believes it would be easy to become lost in such conditions.[15] However, he is unable to sit idly by while people need to buy from him.[16] He congratulates Link for making to the Great Hyrule Forest, and he explains that he will need protection from the cold if he goes any further north.[17]
Kanny believes that Link appears to be good with a sword, but he wonders how good he is with a Shield.[18] He suggests that Link check out the cabin on the Hebra East Summit if he is interested in Shield Surfing.[19][20][21] He remarks that many young people are into Shield Surfing, which he relates to as a way to forget about the cold.[22]
As a Merchant, Kanny specializes in selling Mushrooms.[1][23] When it is Raining or Snowing, Kanny offers rare Mushrooms.[24] If Link agrees to buy from Kanny, he urges him to take his time as he browses.[25] He thanks Link for every purchase he makes.[26][27][28]
Like other Merchants, Link can sell his own belongings to Kanny.[29][30][31][32] He will thank Link each time he sells to him.[33][34][35][36]
